I am about to start cycle 5 and wondered if there were any fellow sex pests out there who wanted to join me in regular swi, not so regular poas and plenty of Wine, Biscuit, Brew and [chocolate emoticon].

Hi Boogies! Oh dear, I hadn't really thought about the fact that the 2ww is over Easter, and bank holidays, and an "ironic Royal Wedding party", and my step-dad's birthday, and my DP's parents' visit. Oh dear, abstinence from booze is going to be hard.
The SWI commitment all came from DP last night! I only arrived home gone midnight, and he was keen to get down to it straight away. And just as I was about to go to sleep, he started up again! I was impressed at his dedication, bless him :)
Do you think it's worth SWI after ovulation, then? I'm never sure how long the egg is supposed to live for. DP is up for another shag this afternoon, but I don't know how useful it would be. But I'm not one to turn down cheeky afternoon sex!

BoogiesBunny · 18/04/2011 11:23

Who knows?! My thinking is that if the cramps I had yesterday were the egg emerging then it could, apparently, live up to 2 days. One more can't hurt anyway! Go for it!! I love your DH's enthusiasm - can he talk to mine?

weimy · 18/04/2011 11:38

Don't panic girls it only takes one lucky little swimmer!!!

OBeSomeOtherName · 18/04/2011 11:54

AF arrived this morning Sad

Not feeling too bad about it though - deep down I wasn't expecting to be PG - still would have been lovely though!

Oh well, guess we'll have to keep on SWI-ing! Hmm Wink

Sorry, I haven't read everyone's posts yet, will catch up properly later) x

orangehead · 18/04/2011 11:59

Sorry the witch got ou Obe Sad
Glad you had a good time molly and weimyis right it only takes one little swimmer

BabySade · 18/04/2011 12:46

Sorry about AF Obe, im glad you have an answer though at last.

Shobbs fx that you get another line.

AF is due in 6 days for me, have got all my fingers and toes crossed!

Ive still been having the odd drink while TTC, is anyone else? The first month I didnt drink at all which caused a lot of gossip. Im only having like one/two drinks max every now and then

BoogiesBunny · 18/04/2011 13:09

baby last month I had the odd sip of wine as well - just to avoid speculation. I think I'll do the same over easter - DH is a good person to have on hand to sneakily finish glasses for me - like that episode of Desperate Housewives with Lynette!

BoogiesBunny · 18/04/2011 13:19

I found a link to that clip - good for a laugh at lunchtime!

BabySade · 18/04/2011 13:27

Boogies I keep forcing my DH to finish my drinks for me too. Before TTC I wouldnt say I was a massive drinker but did go out a lot. I always suffered terrible hangovers (even if I had only had 3 glasses of wine!) Now looking back over the past few months I cant remember the last time I had a hangover, so there is one positive to this TTC business!

Im not particularly hopeful about this cycle. Im still not sure about ovulation, I seem to get EWCM for about 4-5 days. So im not sure if and what day ive ovulated. As ill be going into cycle 6 im thinking about starting with a fertility monitor or ovulation kits. Has anyone got any recommendations?

I would like to try charting but I work shifts (2 weeks days, 2 weeks nights) so temping wouldnt be possible as I get up at different times.

eurochick · 18/04/2011 13:29

I had a frustrating weekend. I was hoping to start SWIing, but we were staying with the mother in law in a small flat with thin walls and just couldnt bring ourselves to do it!

I went to the doctor this morning to start investigations. He has ordered the usual blood tests. Although I am claiming up there we are on cycle 5, we haven't used contraception for quite a long while, so I figure it's time.

molly, were you by any chance on the Aer Arann flight out of Southend on Friday evening, back Sunday evening? I saw your reference to propeller planes and getting back around midnight. If so, I was on the same flight to Waterford (I think it did a Southend-Waterford-Galway route).

BabySade · 18/04/2011 13:32

Hehe just watched the clip! I dont watch Desperate Housewives as im normally at work when its on (have just got sky plus so may start to record it), my DH usually watches it. Ill have to check if he's seen that episode

whitegold · 18/04/2011 13:49

Sorry about af obe Sad

molly sounds like you had a lovely weekend!

baby I've still been having the odd glass of wine once or twice a week at home, but out with friends is a bit more difficult - lets just say I'm not exactly known for staying sober on nights out Blush I've been telling people I'm trying to lose a bit of weight for summer so need to stay off the booze and no one seems to have noticed anything so far... Having said that theres loads of parties coming up over the next few months - two hen dos, christenings and a couple of weddings and my friends will definitely notice if I'm not drinking at those! DH & I may have to employ some Lynette Scavo tactics methinks! Will be hard though - DH is such a lightweight anyway! Grin

MollyDefoe · 18/04/2011 15:07

Eurochick Yes, I was on an Aer Arann flight from Southend to Galway - but it didn't go via Waterford. It was a pretty late flight on Friday night (9pm, arriving 11pm), and last night I got the 6.45 from Galway. So I don't think we were on exactly the same flight, but very similar ones. What a weird coincidence! I hope you enjoyed your time away!

So far none of my friends have really noticed that I'm not drinking, and I've just said that I'm "on a health kick" anyway - which isn't that unusual, so noone's questioned it. But normally I am a relatively heavy - no, let's say "enthusiastic" - drinker. And my best friend's hen do is in about 2 weeks time, my step-father's birthday is on Friday, and the in-laws are staying this weekend; and it will certainly look unusual if I'm not drinking for those events. Ah well, I don't really mind if people suspect we're TTC...

whitegold · 18/04/2011 15:32

I know what you mean molly but I just don't really want the inevitable "any news yet?" questions from people who know we're trying just yet plus my mum loves to interfere help out so she'd probably start buying us things/knitting stuff for us! Lovely of her but we're just not ready for that yet. I definitely don't want anyone at work knowing as my role will change quite a lot once I'm pg - I wouldn't put it past my bosses to make a start on this now if they knew I was trying, but it could be ages away yet before its necessary iyswim. Are you planning on not drinking at all at the hen do then? I'm not so worried about events that my DH will be at too, but at the upcoming hen dos I'll have no one to hide behind! Maybe I should let my best friend in on the secret...

God I'm so distracted today - working from home but haven't managed to get much done - af due tomorrow and I can't stop thinking about it! I should put a temporary block on all pregnancy/baby related sites during working hours! No, not really Grin

weimy · 18/04/2011 15:52

so sorry OBE :(

I have been having the odd tipple, but no one would ever dream of suspecting that I am ttc anyway :)

OP posts:
MollyDefoe · 18/04/2011 16:46

whitegold I'm totally with you on not wanting mother to find out about TTC! I don't really mind friends guessing, but I certainly don't want my mum to know, for all the reasons you describe.

TBH, I've already told Friend A, whose hen do it is, that DP and I are TTC. So it would be OK not to drink at her hen do. But, weirdly, because DP and I aren't married, and don't intend to be any time soon, most of my other friends have assumed babies aren't on the cards for us either. Another friend overheard me and Friend A talking about TTC, but assumed that it must be Friend A who is planning a baby - not me. Probably stupidly, I was a little bit offended, deep down! DP and I have been together for much longer than Friend A - and I was a bit narked that just because we're not planning a wedding, we're somehow thought of as not having such a serious relationship. Or something like that. I was just being silly, anyway.

About 2 years ago, I had a whole year without drinking, sponsored (for charity), but also to establish a new relationship with booze (I'd been drinking too much before then; not worryingly too much, I hasten to add - just a bit more than I thought was sensible). So friends and family don't think it's too weird, these days, when I'm not drinking at all.

eurochick · 18/04/2011 16:55

I hope you had a good time in Galway. I probably saw you at Southend airport. We flew out on Friday at 20.45 and returned from Waterford at 18:55 last night. I hated the planes. The seats were hard and propeller jobbies are always so damned noisy!

I am sure my MIL thinks I'm duffed. I am cutting down on caffeine and alcohol while I am TTC so I was refusing coffee and wine this weekend. And then I ate something dodgy so I was feeling a bit sick and refusing food on Sunday. She's going to be disappointed in 9 months' time!

weimy · 18/04/2011 17:13

maybe not :) !!!

Yeah, the plane's were pretty uncomfortable, eurochick - and you're right, the propellers are so loud! But the whole checking-in and disembarking procedure at Southend was amazingly quick. Wonderful not to have to join a queue of 1000 people at passport control at midnight, like I had to do at Stansted a few weeks ago.

eurochick · 18/04/2011 18:05

That's true. Although it took us AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGESSSSSS to get home to sauf London last night. And I got frisked at Southend and hubby had his rucksack searched. I went through Heathrow and Dulles in DC a week before with less hassle!

MollyDefoe · 18/04/2011 18:09

Oh no, what a pain! Yeah, it took me forever to get home too - I don't live in London, so had another train journey after I got from Southend into the capital. We landed at 8.30pm, but I wasn't home until about half midnight. Gah. I really hate travelling sometimes!

Poppyjen · 18/04/2011 19:27

Hi ladies, sorry it has been an age since I last checked in...have been lurking though Smile We found out a week or so ago that there is a chance that DH job could be relocated overseas (New York) and we have been mulling over what to do. Initially we were both enthusiastic and decided to hold off TTC until everything had been settled as neither of us fancied the stress adventure of new city, new country and new baby.

Anyway a couple of tearful heart to hearts later and we have decided not to go so its back on the bus for me Grin it would have been interesting but with DS only being 1 I think I wouldn't have been as much fun as it sounds...hardly the SATC lifestyle!

So CD15 for me today, EWCM for the past 3 days (definitely had the most today) so we'll see what the next few days hold for my temp but fx I will actually ovulate and have normal cycle this time!

Looks like there will be a few of us testing around 2nd May Smile

shobbs · 18/04/2011 20:04
