When to start TTC

DP and I are quite keen on providing a sibling for our DD (almost 18 months now) But due to various external forces (basically a better Maternity package for me at work) it would be better to have DC2 arrive after July next year.

I know this is still a way off, but would be the general advice on when to start TTC?

I've currently got the dreaded implant which I hate, so part of me just wants it out and see what nature decides, but part of me thinks I should keep it in until September/October Time and then let nature take it's course.

I got pg very easily last time (in fact I was on the pill and hadn't missed one) but I'm concerned that as I'm older now (33, 34 in Oct), could it delay getting pg?

Sorry if this is really trivial but I'm just at a bit of a loss as to what to do right now.

I don't know the answer, but I recently was lucky enough to get pregnant quickly at 34 (here's hoping it sticks), and I'd hazard that you won't necessarily have problems - an easy time with the first is at the very least a decent sign. You will still be in a pretty standard age range in Oct, and if you get far better benefits, that would be a strong consideration if I were you.

Personally, I'd also consider stuff like whether I definitely wanted to stop at 2 and therefore needed to consider timing of later babies (mid to late 30s is perhaps a more likely age to consider the impact of a fertility slowdown, which would be more relevant if you wanted a third) and also how much of an age gap you would ideally have between children. Both issues will count more than cash in the longer run.

But the answer is slightly in the lap of the gods - you could try and get pregnant straight away and think - shucks, should've waited, or wait and then find it takes much longer. No mega risk either way. Good luck whatever you choose!
