Quick question about ectopic symptoms/risks.

I'm 6wks pregnant with my 4th and having lower right hand side discomfort and lower back pain. The discomfort/mild pain in my side has been constant all day. I haven't had any bleeding though. I don't want to be alarmist and drag DD2 down to the surgery tomorrow for nothing.

Are these worrying signs re ectopic? This is my 4th and I haven't experienced this before so I'm a little unsure.

Also wanted to ask, as none of my previous pregnancies have been ectopic, does that lower my risk? I'm 40 in June though so maybe there's an age risk. Any advice gratefully received. Smile

Hi red,

I have had an ectopic and I didn't have any bleeding.

I'd get it checked out just in case. If the pain gets worse (mine made me double over, hard to breathe), or becomes 'shoulder tip pain' (kind of feels like the pain is up your back on one side), go to A and E.

Hope you're fine Smile

Thanks, BMC!
The pain isn't severe at the moment but I guess I'm worried it will suddenly turn that way. I'll keep in mind the shoulder tip pain thing too.

Can I ask, was that pregnancy your first? I can't find any stats of risks after 3 normal pregnancies only on normal pgs after EPs.

Thanks again. Smile

Hi red,

Yes, it was our 1st pg after 5 yrs of trying.

(we then had several mc's and now have twins!)

Also, I had quite a lot of 'ovary' (area) pain in my last pg - wasn't all that unlike the ectopic pain, actually. So may just be that. As you said, just keep an eye on it.

Thanks!
Glad you had an eventual happy outcome!
I think the previous pg question is really because I'm wondering what would cause the egg not to decend this time when we've had no previous problems with my tubes. Maybe they get more blocked with age. Confused

I will see how it goes overnight. Smile

Oh God, just re-read your post. Not sure I could cope with 5 kids. I'm only started to get my head around the idea of 4! Shock

No, we only have the two kids.

I definitely couldn't cope with 5 either Grin

Oh eek! I see what you mean; no I wasn't implying you might have twins in there!

Though they are great! Wink

Thanks, BMC.
It's still there this morning but hasn't got any worse so I'll just wait and see. No sharp pains either.
