Pregnancy tests

Thinking about trying for monster no.2 and obviously will need some pregnancy tests, but just happen to be one of those obsessive people who have to check every 5 seconds just in case. So instead of paying £7 a pop for ClearBlue etc, what do you think of the ones in vials on www.earlypregnancy.co.uk? Probably not as good as others, but do you think they'd do?

No No No No No Noooooooooooooooooo

Wobblymum - I have tried the tests from this site - called Acon and that is exactly what they are A CON!!!

I would defo recommend buying ClearBlue from this site as i have done so before - they are exactly the same as boots or the chemist ones and they are soooo much cheaper.

Whatever you do though - Do Not buy those cheap ones from that website.

Hi,

The Acon tests probably aren't as sensitive as Clearblue, but they definitely work! I tested when I was trying to get pregnant on day 11 (negative), day 17 (negative) and eventually day 19 - positive!! I think maybe a Clearblue might have shown a positive result a couple of days earlier, but the good thing about the Acon ones is if you buy a job lot (I had 20!) you can keep testing to your heart's content, so I'd say go for it. You can always buy 1 or 2 Clearblues/Boots to confirm a result if you're really unsure.

I bought cheap tests from Poundland (2 for £1), had 3 negs, then used a Tesco own brand and got a pos.

i bought those ACON ones and they were negative negative negative until about 3 days after period due. i ended up buying clearblue and first response and allsorts to test as i didnt trust them. buy them if you want a lot of cheap ones, as they do work, but you have to test about 3 days after period due.........and i couldnt wait that long.

wobblymum · 18/09/2003 14:11

Thanks for the responses - a bit mixed!!!! I think I'll get some anyway seeing as they're so cheap and still buy ClearBlue if I need to. I'm not desperate to know at the earliest minute possible, just want something I can keep testing with!

does anyone know if you can still get those pregnancy tests from poundland or the 99p ones from savers?

pootlepod · 31/10/2005 11:28

I usd the ones from poundland, they gave me a positive before a boots own brand. They are exactly the same as a chemist would use.

Bewitched · 31/10/2005 11:35

I bought triple packs of Clearblue Digital from pharmacies on e-bay for about £9.99, so they don't have to be as expensive as they are if you buy them from places like Boots!

tweeni · 31/10/2005 17:19

apparently home bargains is cheapest you get 2 for 89p. does any one know if there is one of these in the dudley/birmingham area?

Mum2OneAndBump · 02/11/2005 18:24

Oh i brought the cheap ones of ebay not sure what they were called but they worked for me i got a positive and that was 2 days before af due, i had already done a clear blue digi test a week earlier and got a pos but i used the cheap ones for my own reassurance as i had had a mc and wanted to keep checking. so they can be very handy, goodluck

Tweeni - I notice that you have posted about 10 questions on pregnancy on mumsnet in the last few days. I am concerned that you have not yet been to the doctors or got any medical care or advice and yet you are 17 and think you are more than 3 months pregnant. You really must do this soon

Mums net is not a substitute for medical care for you and your baby.

You also need to get some help to think through the issues you have about your baby?s father, your school and your parents. To honest, you have bigger problems to worry about than hair dye or maternity fashion

jersey · 10/11/2005 13:26

mum2one where the tests you have used the very early ones for use from 10days after ov? As I have just ordered these, as the signs seem to indicate I may be preg. or could all be in my mind!!!
