Pregnancy - what symptoms and when?
Moomin · 16/09/2003 14:46
Yes, I know there are a million thread containing this info but I just want to see a list of other people's symptoms and when they got them. It's silly I know but I feel better reading the whole variety of things that can happen and whether you were aware of being pg straight away or in ignorant bliss!
I've made myself feel a bit better this month. With dd, I was convinced I'd had sore boobs from 10 days after conception so I've been waiting for this to happen. Found an old calendar the other day and I didn't actually get sore boobs until week 5 and then tested week 6, so there's hope for me this month yet, maybe.
Boobs are tender but not desperately sore but I'm SO tired it's untrue. Went to bed for an hour yesterday afty and slept with dd sitting next to me watching Jungle Book. Talk about unfit mother! Due for AF tomorrow.
Come on then, please: what symptoms and when?!
Nerthus · 16/09/2003 15:44
Good luck Moomin, I hope you are pregnant!
I was wondering about early pregnancy symptoms too, most particularly whether one gets any increase in cervical mucus at the beginning of pregnancy. Does anyone know?
ThomCat · 16/09/2003 16:21
V early signs for me:
Nasty metallic taste in your mouth
Very hard to brush teeth without gagging
large tender boobs
Moomin · 16/09/2003 16:28
Nerthus - I know there's an increase in vaginal discharge of one description or another, not sure it could be described as mucus, though. How lovely!
Angeliz · 16/09/2003 16:30
i went off coffee STRAIGHT away,,weed alot,,,and got car sick
Moomin · 16/09/2003 16:33
Thanks twiglett. Our posts must have crossed - just read yours. Was perhaps thinking that the tiredness was down to being on a diet... but I haven't been especially "good" this week, so I haven't starved myself as such. I've felt very hungry - the type of hunger you get before or on a period, like you HAVE to have something stodgy. And I also feel bloated. I've got a weigh-in in about an hour and I'm convinced I won't have lost any weight. If anything, I feel fatter than last week! This is so frustrating: all of my "symptoms" could quite easily be attributed to being on a diet and/or being pre-menstrual. AGHH!
Azure · 16/09/2003 17:12
I initially had almost no symptoms, apart from what I assume were implantation aches (I'm sure there is a more technical word) - like mild period pains. I have also felt extremely tired, but then I normally do and moved house last week, which didn't help. The queasiness is just starting now. Best of luck, Moomin.
scoobysnax · 16/09/2003 17:15
sore boobs, alcohol tasting wrong, cravings for fruit juice in middle of night...
quackers · 16/09/2003 17:20
Just been discussing on ttc thread as I'm having many symptoms but too early to know for sure if I am pg. I have very tingly boobs and the nipples are enlarged with those glands and little fluid came out yesterday but nothing since. I have twinges constantly and had a small pink spotting yesterday (day21), so who knows, a couple more days or so I think! Temps all over the place though, so not counting on anything!! Good luck all, xxxx
Egypt · 16/09/2003 18:48
Had temp rise 2 days past ov.
V V tired
Sore boobs almost immediately after conception. feel bruised and getting lumpier and harder by the day.
Squeezed nipples one week past ov and clear fluid came out - shocking!
twinges in tummy, like sharp pains, expecially when stand up
thinks thats all.
Egypt · 16/09/2003 18:50
oh yes and increas in creamy white discharge mmmmmmm, lovely. not so much now (5 1/2 wks)
fisil · 16/09/2003 18:55
c 1 1/2 weeks after conception I could no longer wear my contact lenses. I thought it was due to being busy, tired etc, but it lasted throughout pg and is apparently not uncommon. At about the same time my boss cracked a silly joke and I burst into tears. When I told her later on that I was pg, she said she knew from that moment, cos it was so unlike me! All sounds like tiredness, really.
Moomin · 16/09/2003 19:56
Wow! I lost 2 and a half pounds at WW!! Can't believe it because, as I said before, I feel really fat and bloated. Have thought of something else after reading some of these symptoms below: I've got loads of bogies up my nose!!! Sorry - this is sooo gross!
I hope I AM bloody preggers - god knows what's wrong with me if I'm not!!! But I'm NOT going to do an early test. I'll wait until Friday or Saturday................ (probably...)
codswallop · 16/09/2003 19:59
I had horrendous congestion that lasted for 8 weeks when pg with ds3 - I sounded like i had a peg on the end of my nose.
codswallop · 16/09/2003 20:00
Oh and i lost weight in the first few months not sickness - just inexplicable
bunny2 · 17/09/2003 14:35
Lots of discharge , overwhelming tirednes, twingy period-type pains where all very early symptoms this time. All before 6 wks. Good luck Moomin and Quacks.
Nerthus · 17/09/2003 16:24
When is the earliest anyone has done a pregnancy test and got a positive result? It's extraordinary that there is only a physical distance of about an inch or so between one little line of blue ink and the other, yet it feels as if it's about a million miles.
Grommit · 17/09/2003 16:31
I did a test 2 days before my period was due and it was strongly positive
sunchowder · 18/09/2003 14:26
It has been a while for me, but this is what I remember. Utter and complete exhaustion, it was like someone pulling the shade down on my consciousness and having the blackest darkest sleep. Fine needle pricks in my uterus, nasal congestion, odd responses to smells. Boobs became sensitive, very hard around the outside of thembecame progressively worse until I fantasized about cutting them off with a chef-sized wusthof knife (this came at about 8 weeks). At about 9 weeks all I wanted was to be placed in a cold, dark caveno talking, no interruptions, just sleep, with food shoved into the entrance of the cave at regular intervals. I craved stuffing and cranberry sauce during the first 12 weeks. I remember the needle pricks in my uterus changing to the feeling that someone was rubbing the inside of my uterus with a bit of steel wool--I had a great time fantasizing about what bits of things that my daughter was using to play on her chalkboard in there! Good luck to you Moomin!
fisil · 18/09/2003 18:08
Bunny2, I'm glad to hear that about period pains. I have gritty eyes, sounds promising, but also little scrapey period pains. Oh, I can't wait til Tuesday. I want to know now!
wiltshire · 18/09/2003 20:59
Period pains when you are due. Sore breasts 14 days after conception for me. Apart from the sore boobs, I didn't feel pregnant. I even got cramps/heavy feeling & mild backache signifying that I was going to have a period. Obviously at 38 weeks I didn't. Oh and lots of bleeding on/off red/brown.
Moomin · 18/09/2003 22:28
Still no AF - now 2 days late I think. Had a funny period (yeah, they're hilarious aren't they?) last month: 3 days spotting then loads of pain and suspected ruptured ovarian cyst altho pelvic scan couldn't detect any "debris". That all started around the 19/20th Aug, so I thought I'd be due on 17/18th Sept. Bought a tesco's pg test this afty and took the test when I got home. Was almost convinced it'd be +ive but it wasn't!! Boobs still sore and getting mild shooting pains in them now. Slightly twingey ovary ache but nothing strong. Still feel knackered. Still not entirely convinced I'm not pg but then also feeling like some sort of deluded idiot. I know we've only been ttc since Jan but, as someone has said on another thread, this seems like YEARS at the moment! Sorry for sounding selfish to those who've been ttc for longer.
wiltshire · 18/09/2003 23:45
I was ttc for about 1.5 years, gave up and got pregnant 1.5 years after that. Since January isn't that long. I know what you mean about every little sign though. It's pants innit.
willow2 · 19/09/2003 19:29
Excuse double posting - but curious as to what people think...
Well, I wasn't exactly trying to get pregnant but... am now at least a week late but pregnancy test says no go. Weirdly, best mate is also going through phantom pregnancy - ten days late but no positive test. Just been to a kids party where one of the mums said she didn't get a positive test until about six weeks in. Are we about to get the surprise of our lives? Let me know your thoughts!
