*Coil removal and pregnancy??*

Hi all,
Brilliant site so informative, which is an obvious reflection on all you good helpful people.

My last AF was 28/09. My coil was removed on 14/10 and definately began ovulating from 15th onwards as noticed clear strechy mucus.. even hanging when going to toilet. Hubby and I had lots of romping action everyday from 13th through till 16th.

My AF is not due till next weekend, but at middle of week started feeling queasy.. tender nips and swollen boobies for the past three days.. lower back ache.. and all sorts of funny pains and popping sensations in ovary and uterus area.

My questions are..
Could I conceive so soon after coil removal?
Are these early pregnancy signs or just PMS? Anyone else have similar situation?.

I know I should be patient and wait to test.. but I can't!.

Could be imminent AF, but if you don't want to conceive the doctor wouldn't remove your coil within a certain time frame of intercourse. I can't remember exactly what it is, maybe something like 72 hours. So, if you have had a fair bit of "action" around the time the coil was removed, then there is every possibility you could be pg!

Mind you, I had a similar tale to yours and I didn't fall pregnant until two months later, so even if you aren't this time, it shouldn't take too long! Good luck!

Thanks SE for your reply,

I will have to wait see if AF turns up next weekend.

I was just wondering if anyone here has fallen pregnant in the same month as coil removal.

People here have fallen pregnant with coil in place...! Have you tested yet??

bubble99 · 28/10/2005 21:16

Too true bootsmonkey! A girl in DS2's class was conceived while her mum's coil was in place (amazing what playground chit-chat can reveal )

As the pregnancy had implanted well away from, and above the coil, she had the coil safely removed and the pregnancy continued without any problems.

Good luck TweedleDee, I hope you get a positive next weekend.

I have had a coil removal to conceive dd2 and it just felt like a sharp period pain.
I was told to wait for bleed to stop and have 3 periods before getting pg, but had it out mid may and was pg in july. DD was fine and have had another coil fitted.

I'm new to this site and this topic seems to have gone quiet going from the dates shown. Anyway if there is anyone out there I had my coil removed 4 weeks ago and still no period. I did pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative. Did anyone else have to wait longer than 4 weeks for a period after their coil was removed?

petal5 · 29/05/2007 15:34

Hi Mumstheword - I had my coil out 2 weeks ago and have had some spotting but not a full period. They told me up to 6 weeks though. They also told me that if I had had unprotected sex in the few days before that there was a chance I could get pregnant but I dont know where in my cycle I was to even try and work things out!
Are you hoping for a positive?

scorpio1 · 29/05/2007 15:47

i had my coil out 13 weeks ago, and bled for the first 6. my cycles have JUST become anything like they were before-progesterone is strong and can rmain in the womb for a bit before it clears to allow pg. i was also told that i may not have a eriod for 6 weeks, and best to wait until i did to ttc.

Good luck

Thanks it helps to know it can vary. I would like to get my period so I can work out my cycle, I'm already obsessed and only just starting to try for another baby! I'll have to be a little more patient.

hello, I conceived a month after my coil was removed (had it removed md-cycle, it was an old-fashioned non-hormonal one)

my mum's cousin got pg with a coil in place and her ds was born with it in his head.

dinny · 29/05/2007 21:57

ddidn't really hurt having it taken out (have had two taken out, iyswim)

Hi all looking for advice I had my coil out 12 weeks ago now would just like to say that if ur having removal make sure u eat and drink plenty before as I passed out but part of this was due to no knowing what to expect as I was under ga when was put in, back to the point I had day or 2 very light spotting and nothing since then been 12 weeks now since I had removed my doctors haven't been a lot of help, I ha e had unprotected sex once week or so after had coil removed, but me and my partner have only been back together few months after 8 year split and so do not want a baby just yet. If anyone can helpe I would be very great full

Thank you
