Hi All,

So yesterday I saw my ob/gyno and she said that I should take clomid - 100mg as we have been ttc for 18 months (I have only one tube working :( and DH's sperm count is 26 million) has anyone else been on this high dosage? Its such a roller-coaster

Thx

Hi Bengals yes I am on 100mg of clomid - I am on cycle 6 and take them CD3-7 (just finished today).

Are you OK about going on it? I remember being quite Shock when I was told I should take it. We have been TTC 3yrs; I have polycystic ovaries and do ovulate on my own but very irregularly so my gynae said to take it to stabilise my cycles. DH also has morphology issues.

I have been very lucky in that I haven't really had very many side effects at all. A piece of advice I was given was, on the days you take the tablets, to eat every few hours and to drink plenty of water to help your body deal with hormone surge. I also know of people who take the tablets at night if they get side effects so they can avoid most of them.

What kind of monitoring have you been offered? I have a scan every month, and an HCG injection. I had one progesterone test on CD21 of my first cycle to confirm I had actually ovulated but I haven't had any since as my gynae said as long as there is a vialbe follicle on the scan, and that my cycles are under 31 / 32 days, I can assume I have ov'd.

After the first cycle, they weren't nearly as daunting!

Fingers crossed you won't need to worry about a second cycle and you'll be pg before you know it

Hi Gardenpixie,

Thank you for your lovely reply :)

All cards on the table I am pooing myself about taking it - I have started today - I would have so loved to not have any meds but its not to be. Also I have been reading that the chances of multiple births increases, and that scares me, lol - My DH and I have planned for one lol

On regards to the monitoring, I dont really have any, I live in Dubai so I have been told that if this doesnt work in 6 months then IVF is the way forward. My gyno said that maybe I OV for one tube to the next - one tube isnt working so maybe this month is the 'good' one :)

anyway, always hoping, PMA :)

thanks again for your response - I just felt that 100mg was a lot

Hi Bengals , 100mg isn't that much - 50mgs is usually the starting dose in the UK but some women need 250mg to make them ov.

6 months should give your working tube plenty of time to do its thing Grin !

Hope it goes well and that you get a BFP soon,

Grin

xx
