Clearblue 'Plus' non digital test - can you get a false positive?

Got a tiny very faint maybe a line on one this morning, but it has stuck in my head that I read somewhere that you can get a false positive on this type of test.

Have I imagined reading this?

Got a digital test in the cupboard for tomorrow but driving myself nuts wondering.

Any experience of this?

In my completely unprofessional opinion, you are preg.

louisesh · 02/03/2011 15:59

What do "they" say??? A line is a line.I always prefer the clear blue digital no mistaking either "pregnant" or "not pregnant"

Good luck X

It may be a faint line if theres not much hcg.Hold you wee and use your morning sample.

SoupDragon · 02/03/2011 16:00

"Very faint maybe" lines can be evaporation lines I think.

ShowOfHands · 02/03/2011 16:03

A line is a line I always believe to be true except...

The main culprits for false positives (though rare) are those CB +/- ones. I think they have a high rate of evaps and dye bleeding compared to others.

I'd assume + but tentatively.

jaggythistle · 02/03/2011 16:08

It came up pretty quick so I'd think not an evap line. it was just v faint and a bit darker on on edge.

That's what I've read somewhere Show.

had chucked out my wee as soon as I dipped the test so couldn't do a digital.

Thought best to wait for FMU tomorrow.

cheers all.

waiting sucks!

Stay positive! There's a similar thread where someone had a faint line she's just had her bfp!

jaggythistle · 02/03/2011 19:24

Hi jaggy

This happened to me, I could have written this in October! (in fact I did!). A clearblue + test was positive in the way you described, a blue line that was slightly darker on one side. Anyway, every subsequent test I did was negative. My af arrived a day late that month - it was different to normal tho. I am thinking of it as a chemical preg, altho it could just as easily have been a faulty test, and then the worrying of am I / aren't I made my af late, I'll never know. Good luck tho, sorry if that wasn't what you wanted to hear!

jaggythistle · 03/03/2011 12:15

Thanks meliesmummy - don't worry about it being not what I wanted to hear - have pretty much got my head around it now.

I am just kicking myself for testing at all - I was really happy last month because I just looked at my chart and waited, was much calmer. :)

I think I only bought the + ones a couple of months ago because I got my first +ve on one when I was pregnant with DS Blush
