IVF recommendations

Hi, we've just been advised to start IVF privately as unfortunately the wait list may prove too long on the NHS. Obviously there's huge expense involved so I was hoping that someone could give me any recommendations for private IVF in the Hertfordshire area? Much appreciated

I would recommend the HFEA website as your first port of call. They list all clinics and have success rates. Sorry, no specific advice on Herts as all mine were in London. You could also try the fertilityfriends website.

Good luck, it can be hard to get your head around IVF at first.

I had IVF at a top London clinic with a very good reputation and success rate but had a terrible experience.

I later had another round of treatment at CARE in Northampton (they have clincs across the midlands)which resulted in two healthy children (one from fresh and one frozen embryo transfer).

I would recommend visiting several clinics and getting a feel for the place and staff before committing as you have to be happy and confident with the people that are going to be treating you.

Good luck.

I'm with primafacie - have a look at that website and given that ivf is such an outcome based treatment, pick the ones with the best success rate. I used ARGC in London - no frills but extraordinary success rates and now have three children (Inc twins) from 2 cycles. The most expensive cycles are the ones that don't work. V best of luck. X

Thank you all for your help. It's so reassuring to hear other people's advice. I will look up all your recommendations today and let you know how I went. Really appreciate the feedback. I've been on Clomid for a few months but was basically told by my consultant this week that I was wasting my time on it and given my age (coming up to 35) and the fact I have endometriosis) to quote "get on the private route asap and not hang round for NHS" :o) off i go....x
