Hi,

I had my first round of clomid a few wks ago. My doc asked me to have my day 21 test followed by another 5 blood tests every other day (to measure progesterone levels). My day 21 result was 45.8, which I believe shows I would have ovulated? Thing is day 23 result was 54.8 Is it normal for progesterone levels to rise after you have ovulated? I thought they dropt! This is all quite confusing.

Today is day 28 in my cycle and I have had a blood spotting(I never experinece spotting). My cycle is never shorter than 33-35 days. Could this be the Clomid making my period arrive early, or it could be a side effect of Clomid?

Any shared experiences, or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks. xx

Your day 21 test does indicate you have ovulated. Following ovulation progesterone levels rise to a peak at about 7 days post ovulation and then start to decline, unless you are pregnant, in which case they stay raised, and rise further during pregnancy. Do you know when you ovulated? with longer cycles it could be that you don't normally ovulate until day 19-21 (that is assuming you have an average LP of 14 days with your cycle 33-35days).

Basically it is probrable that you testing on day 21 was not quite 7 days post ov and hence why your progesterone levels were still rising. Or with the clomid boosting your ovulation that you did ovulate earlier and that your levels were still rising due to pregnancy.

I have never taken Clomid, so I will leave the questions regarding the bleeding early to those who know better than me. Hopefully someone will answer your question soon.
