AF been and gone, but BBTs still sky high

Hello!

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before. LAst month, I ov'd on day 12. On day 27, AF arrived but without any of my usual symptoms (cramps etc). It wasn't particularly light - in fact it lasted a little longer than normal (five or six days, rather than 3 or 4).

The crazy thing is, my bbt didn't drop at all during my AF, and now it's day 9 of my new cycle, and they are still as high as they were at ov last month.

Anyone else experienced this? I've done a couple of HPTs last week - both BFN.

I'm just worried there may be something wrong. I have been getting pains in my right side abdomen (and occasionally left side) and back ache - but that's nothing unusual for me.

Thanks in advance!

Anyone? It's my second time of posting this q here (but if I'm asking in the wrong place it would be great if someone could point me to the right board!)

Hello :) are your temps as high as they were at ovulation or have they droped a little bit? The ladies on the charters anonymous thread are very helpful - you might get some answers there too x

Hi Ladygray

Some women get period-like bleeding in early pregnancy, so I hope that's what it is. But I think you should head to your GP, so they can rule out the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy. I had a friend who had an ectopic and the only indication was that her temps stayed high.

Thanks ladies,

I've just done another test, and it was negative, so I know I'm not pregnant. God knows what's going on - am just going to try and relax!

But thanks for the heads up on the ec preg possibility Flip; will be heading my docs way if this carries on past the weekend...

feel free to throw your themometer at me if this is a stupid question, but are you sure your themometer is not broken?

bit worried about the pains you mention as that does sound like ectopic. Did you use a very sensitive pregnancy test (10ml) and check it an hour later to be sure there is no v. feint line? In ectopic pregnancies the HCG level is often very low. I think its probably worth another test and trip to the doctor just to be safe.

Hope its nothing scary. xxx

Hi ladygray

I had a similar thing happen to me, AF like clockwork and high temps until about day 5 of the new cycle. So much for TCOYF saying that if you get 18 high temps, you're definitely pregnant! Somewhere else in the book she says you can have high temps at the beginning of a new cycle, so.... eh.

But anyway I suspect that cycle, for me, was a chemical pregnancy, as I had some good signs - very sore boobs and a textbook triphasic chart after ov. (Didn't test though, so have no real way of knowing for sure.) And the high temps continued as a result. So, I hope it's not too distressing to suggest, you may have had the same? In any case, as you say, definitely see your doc if this continues. Hope all is well. Smile

Hi
Have you a link to your chart?

BecstarR · 26/01/2024 20:26

@ladygray if your are on here and pick this up
what was the outcome for you. if you are still on here and pick this up, what was the outcome for your temp running high? I’m having the same thing, a persistently elevated BBT through my period and into my follicular phase…
