Huuuge age gap

I have 1 DD age 13. I never intended her to be an only child, but sometimes things just don't go to plan do they Sad.

DH and I have been married for 3 years, and although he would like children (he has none of his own), we decided early on we wouldn't have any (I had a pretty grim time with DD and didn't fancy going through it again.)

However! I've recently been thinking, maybe a baby would be nice? But then I worry about the enormous age gap between DD and a new baby, plus I'm 33 so not getting any younger.

Has anyone else had a baby when they've already got a teenager?

Age gap between DD (3) and eldest DSS (17) - 14 years
Age gap between me and my little sister - a whopping 35 years!
33 is not old Smile
Its been lovely for us to have older kids and a baby, they help out are great at entertaining her and she loves then very much.

I haven't, but there were 15 years between my mum and her brother. I think she (as the younger one) felt pretty much like an only child as brother was completely uninterested in her!

With a daughter first though, that could be quite fun if she was interested in helping out etc.

Hey!

I was 14 when my brother was born, and it was lovely - different to a relationship where the age difference is less, but it has tonnes of benefits (no rivalry, I could care for him growing up etc) We have a great relationship now.

Life never works out the way you think, but that's not always a bad thing! Go for it!

I have 17 years to the day between my oldest and youngest! Fantastic timing Grin.

Ds1 is 21, ds2 is 19 and dd is 4. I'm currently ttc after a mmc 5 weeks ago, so looking at 22 yr age gap at least between oldest and youngest! I also have an 18 mth grandaughter...

I love it, I love having all the kids around and they've all benefited from the experience. Ds1 did freak too much when his gf got prg as a result.

One word........babysitting Grin.

Friend of mine had DC1 at 16 and DC2 at 36. Her 23 year old has been fab with her 3 year old, although has left home.

There are 13 years between my siblings. No probs.

I'm currently pg and my dd is 11, i think an age gap is great, the older child can be more involved and they had your undivided attention when they were little :)

3 years between me and one brother, 12 between me and the other.
Not so close with the 3 year one. Utterly adore 12 year one.
Babysitting for definite, she'll really look out for the new one and be able to advise on the "big stuff" when he/she gets to that age.
Plus my dad loves it. If our kid's being daft, my dad rings me up, I ring our kid, daftness stops, because he won't listen to dad, but I can get him to do pretty much anything :)

Thanks, btw. I'm 33. I didn't think I was old, till now! ;)
