After Egg Transfer- what advice were you given?

Hi ladies

I'm on my first IVF cycle and have my ET tomorrow. I'm not sure what 'to do' and what 'not to do' afterwards.

Could anyone share what you've already been told please, not matter how basic? It may mean I sleep a little easier tonight!

I've been busy googling for advise Some say strict bed rest and some say it's not necessary. I need to know so I can make arrangements for my son to be looked after. Can anyone help?

Hi cloudwine, I recently had ivf and have a two year old son, can only really say what I did

• drove home after ET and went to bed early
• tried to avoid lifting my son as much as possible

-no baths

• no swimming, my sister took my little boy to his lesson

-no house work or heavy lifting

• rested day after ET
• no alcohol

I'm sure when you go for ET they will give you a letter or a booklet with lots of information on, including what drugs you need to take and also when test

I had my ET just over two weeks ago.... now i have my bfp!

I was told, no sex, no hot baths (warm are fine), no heavy housework and lifting, no swimming...plus basically eat as if you are pregnant (soft cheese etc)

Said try to be as relaxed as you can, but go about your normally day to day life... so I did! I went back to work the day after and carried on!

It's hard, you'll feel normal rather than woozy like after EC.

I wasn't really given any advice. I had a huge sneeze whilst still at the clinic - convince I had 'blown' them out .

I went for acupuncture then lay on the sofa all evening. Worked from home the next day and then it was the weekend. I think I actually started running again then (gym bunny so nothing unusual in terms of activity for me) and then back to work.

Just took things relatively easily.

I was told to take it easy for 48 hours, no sex, no baths or swimming and not to lift anything over 10kg. Bed rest not necessary.

Thank you for replying and for the good luck helen tootired ilove2 (congrats on your BFP)and vanilla (the sneezing made me laugh, bet I'll be even worse!)

I'm sure they will tell me more after the transfer, but I wanted to know what to expect incase I'm too nervous to remember the questions to ask.

Looks like I'll be ok to do the school run on Friday then
