Hi all,
I came off my pill (Dianette) feb 2010 and its now feb 2011 and still no pregnancy. I have a son who is 8 this year. Im really worried that taking dianette for 7yrs has done something to me. You just always asume because you have had 1 baby that u can fall again.
Am i worrying for no reason?
:(

Hiya Kelly,

It might not be the pill, who knows. I have one 3 yr old son and now I've been ttc for 2 years. I've had one MC but no other pregnancy.

Have you seen your doctor for some tests? I've had a scan that said I was fine and some blood tests that were inconclusive. Keep trying, sometimes it just takes ages (or so i tell myself) Sad.

kellybeev · 13/02/2011 10:58

Hi Irene,

I havent been to see my doctor,i was waiting till my next period. I Ovulated on the 9th but i had sex on the 3rd,think it may have been too early.

Maybe i was just lucky the first time :(

Sorry bout ur MC

That's ok.

I'm off to get another blood test this month too if we've not hit lucky. I've just moved house so never got round to doing something about the inconclusive result. They wanted to re-test.

I was on dianette for 6 years, came off it early last year to start ttc. Since then I've had maybe 5 periods in nearly a year, they've only now started to regulate. I still haven't conceived but even though I've been trying for almost a year, it's only really been a couple of months in a way because I've only recently got regular(ish). Doctor told me that it can take up to a year to get completely out of your system because dianette is stronger than other pills, even if your AF seems regular.

I don't know if this is much help because I still haven't conceived, but I just wanted to say not to worry, I'm kind of in the same boat and I've been told it's normal. It could very well be because of dianette that you haven't got lucky yet, but it eventually gets out of your system and you'll be fine :)

I was on the pill for 10 years, the last 3 of which were on Dianette for my skin. It took us a year to conceive (am 36 weeks pg now) and I went to the doctor as my cycles were a bit erratic and very long, up to 50+days. As it was, the month I went to the GP was the month I got pregnant!

He did the blood tests to check I Was ovulating, sent me for a scan to check for PCOS, and sent MrM for a sperm count. All results came back as they were meant to (as I say, this was the same month we actually conceived!) so it maybe just took that period of time, but I would say it is time for a visit to your doctor.

Medee · 13/02/2011 15:16

PS, I used the Clearblue Fertility Monitor to understand my cycles; I was usually at 40-42 days which is around the maximum for that to be an effective tool.

Ariesgirl · 13/02/2011 15:51

I never knew all that Meds Grin 36 weeks already? Bloody hell!

Medee · 13/02/2011 16:05

I thought I had bored for Scotland on it elsewhere! The dildocam to check for PCOS actually confirmed my 2 week old BOCs.

Ariesgirl · 13/02/2011 16:10

Aah. I was a bit new then. So many BFPs at the same time.

I remembered the 50 day thing though.

kellybeev · 13/02/2011 16:13

thanks guys, was starting to think it was just me. il wait to have my period then il go doc.

what day of your current cycle are you on, Kelly? One of the blood tests is done Day 21 (to see if you have ovulated) - in my case it was repeated a few days later as I was ovulating late.

kellybeev · 13/02/2011 16:20

i ovulated weds which was the 9th

Is not just you Kelly - and a much lucks with it.

We're on our 13th cycle this end, and nowt. Tests show we're both healthy, so I am guessing it's a matter of patience (Easier said than done, I realise).

If it cheers you, I know lots of women who tried for 18 months to 2 years and eventually got pregnant with no intervention. I think mother nature just likes to keep us on our toes (the cow).

LankyLegs · 14/02/2011 09:06

Just wanted to say kelly there are loads of people in your situation so don't lose hope!

As boofer said it can take a lot of people a lot longer and patience is the key. I am on cycle 17 now and not even a hint of a bloody pregancy! All tests also clear but I can tell you it has been tough coping with dissapointment month after month.

I think its good to get these tests done just to put mind at ease and then at least you can crack on with life rather than putting stuff on hold (which I was kind of doing) I am now of the philosophy of just enjoying myself and not letting the whole TTC to take over.... (easier said than done)

Good luck with it thought - am sure we will all get there in the end!

LankyLegs · 14/02/2011 09:06

though not thought!

kellybeev · 16/02/2011 15:17

thanks guys, good luck to u aswell.

a question though,do any of u get brown discharge right before your period?

Changing2011 · 16/02/2011 17:44

Hi Kelly Im trying for 14 months after the Mirena came out Nov 09 and no luck, periods very erratic I have one 5 year old, had coil for 3 and a half years. Im 27. You are not alone x

kellybeev · 17/02/2011 17:09

its just sooo frustrating now. i really dont want to go c my gp but i think im gna have to bite the bullet and go. my partner prob wont want to but if i get my tests done then maybe he wont nd too. but since being off dianette i get this brown discharge b4 my period. im having it now, very heavy like a period and filling a tampon. im almost having 2weeks where im bleeding. is that normal?xx

OP posts:
LankyLegs · 17/02/2011 20:17

Hi Kelly - I normally get a bit of brown discharge before my period but only for a day or so before it arrives and then a bit afterwards. Bleeding for 2 weeks... I think you should use that as an excuse to see the GP as I don't think you should be bleeding for so long. Do you know how long your luteal phase is? If there is not enough time between ovulation and your period then this can also cause problems. Often brown spotting/bleeding for long periods might mean that your luteal phase is not long enough or you are not producing enough progesterone.

I would get your day 2 and day 21 bloods done to check all your hormone levels. Will put your mind at ease and also there is lots that can be done to get all your hormones sorted.

Sorry - hope this doesn't sound too hardcore! They are all quite straightforward tests so would be good for you to get these done... I discovered that I had an underactive thyroid as a result of these tests and now am on some simple medication but probably wouldn't have uncovered that unless I had them...

kellybeev · 21/02/2011 09:30

ok thank u,im having a heavy flow now so im goin to go to the doctor after ive finished

OP posts:
kellybeev · 21/02/2011 09:31

its not blood for 2weeks but because of the brown discharge it makes it feel like i cant have intercourse because its there like blood
