I think your body can start preparing for ov and produce lots of watery cm but I think ewcm is produced due to LH surge. Not 100% sure but didn't want to leave you unanswered.

As far as I know EWCM is produced due to the rise in oestrogen but it is perfectly possible to have the EWCM but not actually ovulate. But if you're getting the CM that's a good sign.

absolutely. I have EWCM, one sided ov pain, great FSH, fab antral follicle count, terrible PMS, normal cycle length... you name it. But I don't ovulate. I only found out when I had IVF and got no eggs.
