Question - for my sister

My sister is ttc and her last 5 periods have been slightly erratic. She did get married during this time so part of it could be down to that. Before she always knew the day she was due but her last three period were

last: 10 days late
before that: 3 days late
before that: 12 days late

The first day of her last period was 14th September so normally she would of came on yesterday but she has not and has no symptoms but is weeing lots and tired - ah haaaaaaaaa - maybe she is???

But because she has been late recently would a preg test give her a bfn as she might not come on
until next week. do you think her cycle has now changed from 28 days to 38 days? so does it mean she should not try testing for another 10 days???

We are both confused - help???

I can't remember what they are called, but there are definitely tests about that you can use before your period is due, so maybe a trip down the pharmacy is in order?

I personally would test, and if it's negative just test again in a week or so. I have no will power though and I'm far too impatient - DH used to take the mick out of the amount of tests I'd go through!

Good Luck!

Yep, I would do a first response test - they tend to come in packs of 2 anyway, so she could save the 2nd test for 10 days time

hello

she said she will wait - ahhhhhhh i could never wait.

do you think her cycle could change from 28 to 38 in such a short time, so if it has changed that means that the tests would not detect the hormone until next week right?

With cycles like this she would be deemed as having irregular cycles. A normal cycle is defined of a cycle length of between 21 and 35 days OR with less than 4 days of variation from month to month.

I would actually advise her to visit her GP to get a blood test done to see what her hormone levels are like. Hormonal problems can cause irregular periods. Irregular cycles generally are more likely to be ones in which ovulation does not occur. It is quite possible to have periods without ovulating.

In such circumstances I would not do a pg test till she has the results of a blood test back.
