Ibuprofen & implantation - really worried...

We are on cycle #2 of TTC and I am 8DPO today. I have tonsilitis and as I didn't realise that Ibuprofen can be bad when TTC, I took 2 doses on 6DPO, 2 doses yesterday & 1 this morning. Now I have read that it can interfere with implantation & that if implantation still occurs, can lead to MCs. I am sooo worried! We did some epic swi this cycle (5 days in row including OV day!!!) and now I feel like I've thrown it all away by being stupid & ignorant!! :(

And altho I want a BFP more than anything, now I think if I get one I will miscarry soon after :(

Has anyone taken ibuprofen around implantation time & not only got a BFP but also had a healthy pregnancy? Please say yes!!! :(

I didn't take ibuprofen early in pregnancy but I did take Ponstan (similar in terms of warnings, etc.) because I thought I was having period pains (very irregular through stress at that time) and I was bleeding. I also drank wine later at a party. Turned out it had been implantation. I checked with my doctor and she said it would be fine - she knew someone who had taken a lot more than I had and she and her baby were fine. Although I continued to bleed on and off for several weeks my DS was absolutely fine too.

Good luck - I know how worried you must be.

Don't worry. What you take won't have an effect on your little bean until it is well fertilized and implanted. My FC told me 6 weeks. So relax and hope you feel better.

is ibruprofen not allowed in pregnancy, I remember taking 2 twice for a migraine both times, with no problems to baby?

charitygirl · 03/02/2011 20:46

I thought Ibuprofen was only contra-indicated in the final trimester.

Anyway, OP, don't worry, you'll be fine.

Got2Dance · 03/02/2011 20:58

Even if it is contra-indicated, she's not actually pregnant yet!! The bean won't be hooked up to her blood supply for a few weeks yet, so there's no worry!!!

Thank you so much everyone, you made me feel much better! And I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't know ibuprofen wasn't good when TTC or pregnant!! :)

Don't worry. Before I got my bfp I'd had the cold from hell the week before and taken much, much more than the recommended dose of ibuprofen, paracetamol, lemsip max strength powders, various decongestants, cough syrup, lozenges and pretty much anything else I could get my hands on.

When I wasn't feeling so dreadful I had also been drinking copious amounts of wine.Whoops

I'm 12 weeks today.

Relax, you'll be fine

Thank you TinyDiamond!! I wish you a trouble free pregnancy and a gorgeous little bundle of joy in roughly 28 weeks time!! :)
