Sounds awful... but we do have a bit of a time limit, I am happy to explain if anyone interested....
DD 8months, I am having my first work away trip at the weekend.... It is the right time for us now. Currently feeding eve and morn and once in the night with formula at other times ( she is not a big eater). I haven't had a period since having her;

Just wondered if anyone else is in a similar situation and wants to share in the hope of catching that first egg...

x

Hi gauntlet, I fed my little boy till he was 10 months, I then had a period 2 weeks later so must have ovulated just before I stopped feeding I think, I had cut down to just one feed a day anyway. My first period was very heavy and extremely painful, no idea if this is normal or not. I then had another period and we started trying and I got pregnant that first month. I would say that unless absolutely critical I'd wait and have one period, will be easier to date pregnancy and chance for body to clear itself out. Just my thoughts though.

Good luck and hope you get your BFP soon

Helen x

I was still feeding my DC at 15 months, up to six times a day, no periods and I still got pregnant :)

whomovedmychocolate · 02/02/2011 21:03

No periods between mine either. Tandem fed both of them. 20 months between them. Probably too early for your periods to come back yet anything. First ones a killer btw. Just keep having sex, you'll get pregnant regardless. Try not wanting another child just yet, that seems to do the trick Wink

RantyMcRantpants · 02/02/2011 21:13

WMMC I tandem fed as well :) and I agree with the just keep having sex and you'll get there.

hilarious ' try not wanting another child just yet' so true!

Thanks for the advice about that first period... yeh, Last time I hadn't had a regular cycle for ages- and so it was a bit stressful trying to date the pregnancy.

Anyone know why that first period is a killer?

I felt the same when DD was 8 months as I wanted a small age gap but decided to give up at the 12 month mark if my period hadn't returned... it came back at 9 months but still trying to get pg (DD will be 1 on Tuesday).

IslandIsla · 03/02/2011 18:51

good luck gauntlet xx

It was my second period that was awful and very heavy - the first was lighter than usual. But I'd just go for it without waiting for a period - your body will do what it needs too.

thegauntlet · 03/02/2011 22:09

thanks islandisla.

prac.perf..... so are you stopping feeding? and you didn't stop but they came back at 9 months anyhoo? interesting.....

Sorry gauntlet, I wasn't terribly clear (it was almost bed time for me!).

My period did return when DD was 9 months and I was still BF. I had the initial one, then since have had 2 more and they have been surprisingly regular. The gap between the first and second was 33 days, and the gap between the second and third was 26 days. If I have another it will be due next week, but hopefully I will be pregnant by then .

Tbh we only tried last time and the timing wasn't great because DH was away with work over the crucial time so we're seeing what happens this time as he was home when I was ovulating (according to the trusty MN calculator Wink).

I am still BF, DD has 4 feeds a day. One first thing in the morning, one before her morning nap, one before her afternoon nap, and before bed at night. She started sleeping through at about 10ish months so I was still doing a feed at night when my period returned.

Good luck :)

wow- thanks prac.perf. Good luck for the POAS!! So- I caved in. I have been away for work in London, and missed a night. ( great sleep for me Grin )but this mean 36 hrs without a feed, and I was bursting.she was ok without me, on the bottle Sad but I fed when back and am still so sad and confused about how to go forward with this all....
I will be looking forwards to hearing how it goes for you.

At the mo feeding 3x ish with 630am, 7pm and 3am, with 3 meals and about 10oz formula.

Stopping cold turkey was not the way forward (as I sat in a hotel room with cold flannels on my norks last night crying )
