Brother and SIL about to start ICSI - how can I support them best?

I have no idea what they'll be going through and the timescales of things.

Brother seems to expect his DW to be pregnant this month, but is he just being very optimistic? I imagined that SIL will need some sort of hormone treatment to stimulate her ovaries, eggs collected, sperm injected and embryo transferred back. Surely this will all take time? What kind of side effects form the drugs might she suffer from?

Also Brother is 38 and SIL is 40. Do you know what the sucess rates are for this type of treatment?

Thanks for any answers, I'm keen to support them but not to appear prying.

I was sucessful at 38, your sil will go through a series of injections to stimulate eggs, I personally didn't really get any side effects. It will take a couple of weeks before egg collection and then a 2 week wait afterwards to see if the eggs have implanted.

I didn't really want to talk about it myself, but she may feel differently. Let her know you are there for talking or whatevers needed if it's required.

Best of luck to them, I really hope it works, I'm happy to answer any other questions you have.

xx
