OPK's what time of day?

I have never had a positive opk, i know i am ovulating because i got pg. Sadly then m/c'd but am now ttc again. I admit before pg i could have simply missed the day as i wasn't rigid about it.

I started taking the opk at 2pm from 2 days after my af. Then for the last few days over what i thought was my fertile period in the morning and at 2pm. All of them negative. Please can anyone who tests tell me what time of day you test to get a positive? i'm just wondering how vast a difference it can be.

hey cep, sorry about your mc. What opks are you using? I never could get a positive either but then got pregnant (but also m/c'd) so i knew i was ovulating.
But this month for the first time it worked. The difference for me was I used clearblue which you stick in a digital thing and it shows a smiley face. Before i was using first response and it was unclear on the lines. Also FR ones say don't pee for 2 hours whereas clearblue say 4hours and i think this made all the difference.
They say use at the same time every day and I have read 2-4pm is better - god knows why.

i have to admit they were cheapey ones, the one step tests. I can't afford the clearblue ones. Maybe it's the difference of not peeing for the hours before. am now trying to remember how long before test i went to the loo. May keep that in mind next time. thanks angster

Sorry meant to say sorry about your m/c as well.

Are you talking about the monitor??

no not the monitor the digital one where you stick the sticks in. i am sure the cheapeys are fine ...FR ones definietely weren't cheap and didn't work for me. good luck!

cep I used the cheap ones and they worked the month I got pg. I'd been using them a couple of months before but not properly and never got a positive then. You don't need to use them straight after AF. How long is your cycle? Mines LONG at 40, so I'm not expected to ov until day 23ish. I'm impatient do started to test from day 20 (ish). That's when it worked, before then I was testing way to early.

Also I tested in a morning. I read conflicting messages about when to test but found that not drinking or peeing for 2-4 hours in the day was impossible. Remembering first thing was also much easier.

Good luck xxx

hey collie i end up testing from early date cause my cycles seem to change every month. Is interesting that you tested positive in the morning. i think i need to carry on doing both. Thanks for letting me know. Grin

Hmm I used the one step last month and only ever got a nearly-positive (line was just ligher than test line), then no line at all day after. Assumed this must have meant a positive I missed by a few hours. Nice to know it can work in mornings too though as it's less of a faff!

mrssatsuma it seems to change person to person. the "advice" is that it wakes a few hours for the surge to hit your urine, hence best to test in the afternoon. But assuming everyone surges at different times surely that's not going to be the same for everyone.
