how early did you test and got a BFP

Just wondering, as i've just got a BFP but i'm sure i'm only about 2 weeks gone (ovulated about 3weeks ago) it just seems soooooo early to know that i'm pregnant........Anyone else in the same boat? x

Hi sunface, lots of us on the October baby bus have had positives a number of days before AF due - around 10 - 12 DPO.

It's nice to know you're pregnant BUT lots of the post suggest there is much worrying about the possibility of chemical pregnancy as it's so early, me included! I'm only 15 DPO and got a positive at 10 DPO. And a faint faint positive the evening before that!

9 days after I ovulated. I knew I was pg though, just felt it, test just confirmed it.

With the average luteal phase (time between ovulation and your period) being 14 days, most people know they've missed a period around a fortnight after ovulation. I have an 11 day luteal phase and so would know I was pregnant for sure 2 weeks post ovulation.

If you ovulated 3 weeks ago, you're 5 weeks pregnant now btw.

thanks guys, think that's my worry, that i've tested way too early. going to leave it till early next week to test again i think and by that time i'll be 2 weeks late.... here's hoping all the BFPs turn out ok xxx

So if you guys are getting positives as early as 9DPO, does this mean your beans have completed implanted by then?? I thought it takes a fertilised egg 6/7 days to travel down the fallopian tube but another 5 days to implant...but perhaps it doesn't work like that.

11dpo with a First Response. Implantation happens around day 7.

Lettie, I think you start to produce hcg as soon as the embryo starts to implant. Hence why with chemical pregnancies you can test and get a positive a couple of days before your period and then bleed as normal. You start to produce hcg and then when the embryo fails to implant properly, your period takes over as normal.

Bear in mind that your body has about 5 miu of hcg anyway, the very early detection tests pick up 10miu and above. That's a very small amount of hcg. You can test positive VERY early on now. Which has obvious problems.

sunface, you haven't tested early. Early testing is testing before your period is due. Historically, your period not turning up as expected was what told you you were pregnant and it was only ever confirmed with a blood test. Once your period is late, you're 4wks pregnant or thereabouts assuming somewhere around an average cycle. You don't need to test again. Your period didn't turn up and you did a positive test. You're pregnant. By next week (again assuming an average cycle), not only will you still be pregnant (6 weeks pregnant in fact) but your baby's heart will have started to beat.
