Poppyjen · 28/02/2011 20:49

Hi gizzy I got an early (faint) positive with DS1 with a First Response test 6 days before AF was due although I think if I can bear it this time I will wait a little longer to make sure Smile

Good luck!

BlueCrane · 28/02/2011 20:58

Hey loup and lucy fantastic news!!!

Just plodding along here and not much to say really, holding off testing again for a few days...looks as though DH might not be home til the weekend though which is a pain. No sign of AF yet though which could be a good thing Smile still cramping on and off and feel quite bloated, but will just have to wait and see. Had a super stressful weekend so trying to have a calm week if I can but miss DH lots which is tough as am not used to him having to go away Sad

sevendwarves · 28/02/2011 21:01

Sorry goingmad, it ain't over yet though, could it be implantation spotting?

gizzy you would have been able to test from today, although many people do seem to get BFN's testing this early and then go on to get BFP's a few days later. My AF is also due on Sunday and I won't be testing before Thursday morning, although I only have control because I've run out of Internet cheapy HPT's!

sevendwarves · 28/02/2011 21:03

blue it must be horrible missing your DH. When is your AF due?

Meant to ask if anyone else will be POAS on Thursday?

gizzy3182 · 28/02/2011 21:09

Hi sevendwarves and Poppyjen im so tempted to go and buy a first response like now but am so hungry and dont have the energy!! will see if i can try and hold out til thursday.

good luck

BlueCrane · 28/02/2011 21:09

seven I thought AF might've been due last friday but it could also be this wednesday - last cycle was 35 days and one before was 30 which is why there is a little uncertainty. I had BFNs on Thurs/Fri/Sat and not tested since then. DH went away yesterday and he would've found it so difficult to go if I'd just got a BFP so we decided I'd wait to test when he got back and just see if AF turned up. It's been easier not to test than I thought but think it's just because my brain has been so distracted by crazy weekend and work deadline looming on weds! All a bit mad here at the moment! Be glad to get this week over with! Think if AF doesn't turn up on Wednesday then my resolve re. not testing may get more difficult but we'll see Hmm

goingmadtrying · 28/02/2011 21:11

argh thanks seven im taking some hope from loup as she had some spotting this weekend and then went to test +ve today, will see how things are tomorrow and then decide whether to get a test for wednesday,
fx for thursday/sunday Grin

lalabaloo · 28/02/2011 21:59

Hi everyone, congratulations on some BFPs :D Sorry I haven't been around much so i'm not very up to date. I don't think i'm in the running for a BFP this month, feeling really not pregnant and did a test today and BFN. AF not due til Friday but I feel like it will be here any minute. I've been quite calm this month but starting to feel a bit strange about it now :(

goingmadtrying · 01/03/2011 07:12

Ok do I go and get another test? I do have some pg symptoms like tender boobs ( don't usually) peeing alot and tired but had some red spotting when wiped yesterday a couple of times and some brown spotting this morning (sorry tmi) also having cramping yesterday but nothing this morning af due tomorrow so back to my original question should I bother testing???

Loup23 · 01/03/2011 08:21

Hi going I really hope its a BFP for you. I had light spotting sat then nothing and my BFP yesterday with a FR.If a test puts your mind at rest then you should.

Good luck blue hope DH hurrys home and a BFP awaits. I think you're using internet cheapies too? Mine still showing BFN but FR showing clear line so not convinced..

Good luck, hope more BFPs come along this week x

maybebabyR · 01/03/2011 08:24

Hi going I agree with loup, anything that puts your mind at rest is a good thing. Fingers crossed it's a BFP.

My AF has only lasted 36 hours. And it never really started. Don't have a clue what's going on! It was even lighter than it was when I was on the pill!

So pleased for you again loup x

BlueCrane · 01/03/2011 08:45

mmm...didn't POAs this morning as being good and waiting BUT think I saw some faint pink when I wiped [sorry TMI]...so...maybe Af on her way or not getting too excited, promise maybe it could be start of implantation?!?!? Will keep you posted!!loup that's interesting about the internet cheapies...I have a FR stashed at home but will try and wait until DH back I think!

ghosteditor · 01/03/2011 09:35

loup and lucy so pleased for you!

blue I am only just catching up but hope AF is staying away for you, it must be tough with your husband being away.

going it might make you feel better to test if the wondering is driving you crazy, but with your AF not quite due you could still get a BFN even if you are pg, so it's a balancing act! My theory is that if you can afford it then go for it.

DH is still stuck overseas and may be away until the weekend at least. So frustrating! We were planning some good old CD 7 onwards SWI but if he gets back Friday it will be CD 14, which may be too late (won't stop me trying and wondering!) Sad

However I am very glad to see that this bus is getting luckier by the day Grin

bornofdust · 01/03/2011 14:41

Ooh, hello seven you've caught my interest with something you've said to gizzy...

From what I'd read on the NHS website, I thought you couldn't test before your next AF due date? Are you saying that I could POAS before then?

I'm 3 days PO and AF is due a week tomorrow(based on the assumption that I have a 22-day cycle). DH is travelling with work quite a bit over the next two weeks, so I was going to hold off from testing until the following weekend, when we are both at home. Could I test this weekend and dispense with the suspense sooner?

Sorry if I'm asking you to repeat yourself, I wasn't sure whether I'd understood correctly.

BlueCrane · 01/03/2011 15:59

I seem to have hit a wall of tiredness! I just can't keep my eyes open zzzz...no more 'pink' though I keep checking!

ghosteditor · 01/03/2011 17:11

born most HPTs now advertise that you can test up to four days early, but they each specify how accurate they can be at that time. As they read hormones the hormone level may not build up in time for the test - so essentially you can get an early false negative but not a false positive (but then you get into chemical pregnancies which is a different issue)

It's something like 20% accurate (!) four days pre-AF due date and it rises from there, only hitting 99% on the day of AF being due.

Most people don't get positives even if they are pg before about 10 dpo, so this weekend would be very early for you. However on MN you will find people with positives from 6dpo and negatives up to a month after AF is due when they really are pg, so there's really no way to be sure unless you do in fact get a BFP. Basically it's all a bit of a headf**k!

Good luck though...

sevendwarves · 01/03/2011 17:16

bornofdust 22 days is a very short cycle! with FR tests (or high sensitivity Internet cheapies) they say you can use them from 6 days before your AF due date. However implantation occurs 6-14 dpo and then takes a couple more days to start producing the LH hormone that HPTs detect, therefore if you were to test 6 days earlier than AF due you would only be 5dpo, which would be too early due to your short luteal phase. Thankfully I have a 17 day luteal phase so 6 days earlier than AF for me is still 11dpo, meaning I could theoretically get a BFP.

I assume this is why they don't recommend testing before AF is due. Even with a 'normal' 14 day luteal phase you could test the day before AF is due and get a BFP even though you could be pregnant.

If only we all had the patience to SWI then just wait!

gizzy3182 · 01/03/2011 17:45
