Any Alternatives to Cerazette?

Please, i need some advice/help! I have been on Cerazette for 5 years and am now having serious periods (like 6 weeks at a time). The doctor says this is my only option as i'm overweight (around the 18stone mark).
They aren't giving me any other options as they say its down to my size this is my only option. I don't want any more kids but don't want a hysterecomy either (pls excuse the spelling). I'm happy taking a pill everyday, and don't like the idea of a coil.

Has anyone come off Cerazette and found a suitable alternative that doesn't cause such havoc with your periods? A implant? Injection? A different pill?

I'm desperate! Would like to actually have a romantic evening before flipping valentines day!!

hello :) the depo injection might work for you - the implant is good too but I think more likely to give you erratic periods. The depo is more likely to give you no periods or at least lighter. The best people to speak to are at the family planning clinics - you should be able to go to your local one and they can give you some advice. Good luck

I was on Cerazette due to history of migraines. I feel for you - I persevered with Cerazette for 2+ years with similar problems - 3 week periods etc.

My doctor offered an alternative mini pill which I'm afraid I dont know the name of.

She said it wasnt their first choice as it was 'less reliable' however, she didnt expand on that info. It apparently doesnt cause the breakthrough problems that Cerazette does.

It has a smaller 'window' in which you can take it, 3 hours, IIRC so that may cause it to be less reliable if you're not very good at taking it on time.

Anyway, ask your Doc if they know of this alternative.
