Has anyone tried the Shettles method???

Dr Shettles wrote a book about how to conceive a girl or boy. I really want a girl and have been trying all his tips. I am not going to hate a boy but would be nice to have a girl. Has anyone tried this theory??? Apparently it is 75% effective but has it worked for any of you lot????

I'm curious, what are the tips?! I thought it was all down to the sperm that reaches the egg (either has an x or y chromosome). What does Dr Shettles suggest?

Its to do with when you have sex and when you ovulate. If you have sex a few days before you OV then no more sex it's meant to mean you'll have a girl but if you have sex on the day you ovulate you'll have a boy.

I have the book and was going to try it but me and XH split up.

Its meant to have a high success rate.

I tried a combination of timing and supplements. If you want to stick vinegar up your fanjo go ahead, but personally I didn't!

I may have achieved this by accident. 9+4 after conceiving from sex 4 and 5 days before ovulation (no further sex until 4dpo - nothing to do with gender selection, just a right arse up of ttc). If you can be bothered to wait that long then I'll let you know in 30 weeks what I have!

bexamundo, his theory works on the fact that Y and X sperm have different characteristics. X sperm is bigger and can last longer in the womb so to conceive a girl have sex before ovulation and then wait for the Y sperm to die! Also don't orgasm because it creates an alkaline environment that favours Y sperm. If you want a boy do the opposite!

How would this work when using a fertility monitor. Would you only have sex on the high days and stop when its shows the peak?

Dunno. Did it the old fashioned way with a thermometer and chart! You need to keep records for a while to try and spot a pattern. Some people say agnus castus helps to regulate cycle. The site/book explain much more clearly.
