Effect of alcohol on TTC

Hey to all those TTCers , are your DP's doing anything to improve chances of TTC , like curbing their alcohol consumption? My DH and I always seen to have some big night planned around ovulation time, like tonight and I feel mean if I stop him after about 4 drinks. He normally drinks sth at the weekend. Does anyone think it actually makes a difference?

I think it can slow down the swimmers and in the longer term can cause problems with sperm formation. However, plenty of men drink and don't seem to have a problem. Probably depends on what his sperm count / mobility etc is like in the first place.

Probably best to both limit yourself to a few drinks and certainly not to binge drink.

It may depend on what his swimmers are like already - my DP had v low sperm count following a vasectomy reversal, gave up booze for 3 months (not totally, still a few drinks here and there) and now has normal sperm count. However - that may just be time working its magic or it might have been giving up the booze.
I know of someone else where it made no difference at all as his sperm count was already fine.

Sorry - just read that back and realised that it probably doesn't answer your question Confused

I think there is also a delay on drink/sperm
Production so am not sure If his big night when you are ttc would make a lot of different. That said I would think as other poster said drinking healthy amounts would help. Also same for you(and think that success can be more dependent on woman drinking moderately).
