Fertility Consultation on Monday

Hi
I have an appmt with a consultant on Monday afternoon and I'm not sure what to ask.

Background: I had fertility issues for 5years and a miracle baby as a result of the 2nd IVF.
We are amazed to have one child and have discussed trying with IVF again. We have decided we don't want to go that route... in the meantime I've been having acu and we've ttc at approx the right time. 6months ago, astonishingly I got a bfp but this ended in miscarriage at 7weeks.

Does anyone have any suggestions what I should aim to get out of the consultation? (I'm a haggered old 41yrold btw)

Thanks

Hi, funnily enough I'm also going for an appt on Monday. I have a mixed history of pregnancies too; one beautiful ds conceived quickly with easy preg, one late termination due to lethal condition followed very quickly by a mc at 7 weeks. Since then I haven't conceived (about a year). If you have already gone through ivf you are probably more up on what they'll do than me, but I'm hoping for day 3 and day 21 blood tests, thyroid check and possibly an hsg to make sure my tubes aren't blocked after the mc (can happen apparently). I go to acupuncture 2x month and have changed diet/take loads of supplements following nutritionist's advice so I'm after medical advice (not lifestyle). If that doesn't work would consider iui before ivf. Was that ever a consideration of yours? Where are you going? I'm going to viveka in London. Would be really interested to hear how you get on x

Can you help me too??

I've got my fertility appointment on Friday next week and as we're ttc no1. I know I'm the problem, as I've been told that I'm not ovulating. I'm scared that the consultant's going to want to redo all the tests my GP's already done and that they'll blame my weight (my bmi is 30).

We've been trying for a year and I'm so fed up of everyone around me being pregnant and not seeming to get anywhere I just want someone to give us a chance. I need to get this accross without sounding like a deranged maniac!!!!

Hi, I really don't know what effect bmi has on fertility, but I do know clomid is sometimes prescribed to help ovulation. Good luck with your appt x

Thanks, good luck with yours too!x

Hi all just a quickie - I got my GP to print off all the paperwork for the tests they had already done, and any information from my miscarriage, and I took it along to the appointment. The consultant took all of it into account to make sure that I didn't duplicate any tests. Good luck! xx

Frankly my appointment was pretty rubbish.

The consultant was absolutley adamant the second half of every womans cycle is always 14days. Sigh.

I have one child and I amd over 40, so I'm not entitled to any help.

Fed up.
