What's best? What's difference? I've been trying to be chilled re. ttc but now I want to know everything you know!

Hi Sunnyside, I just bought a persona, they're a bit pricy (£69 i think) but if it takes a while to get pg it's cheaper than ov kits in the long run. Also I reasoned that it helps me build a clear picture of my cycle so I can use it as contraception after I've had the much longed for baby! I'm only on my first cycle using it, but I feel hopeful that I've done everything possible to fall this month.

i conceived both of my whilst using a persona.....but then maybe it was just luck !!!! Think they should add a feature to the unit that plays smoochy music at ovulation time (teddy prendegrass or Barry White) to get you in the mood, what do you think ???

Steppy1 I think that's a great idea! I got so excited when the little O popped up I just lept on DH, I think he might have like some smoochy music to help him catch up It was so reassuring to know it was all working though, cause I have such an irregular cycle it's good to have a ov warning system!Just hope it worked now

Sunnyside I debated this and eventually bought a boots ov kit when they were on offer with the pregnancy tests. Glad I did cos I conceived that month!

Hi

I was using Persona when I got pregnant the first time we tried. I had been using it as contraception but we decided to start being lax. It was a few days before I was supposedly ovulating when I conceived. The good thing about Persona is that you know where you are in your cycle. I was able to give my midwife the exact date on when I conceived.

Bear in mind though, that the egg sign you get for the first few months is based on the mid-point of your cycle - i.e. day 14 if you have a 28 day cycle. It takes a few months for Persona to adjust to your own individual cycle and give you a more accurate ovulation date.

tai tai i disagree on thst point sorry as ive got a brand new persona only being using it this mth im on cd 12 and have the little o and now got ov pain so i think it can sometimes be accurate from hormone level surges too

Thanks ladies. Smoochy music sounds like a great idea! I've posted this elsewhere too but how does persona work? What do you have to do?

I've just looked on ebay at persona andone seller says that you can't use it if you have PCOS. Is that true? Why not?

Also would it be mingin to buy a used one? This seller says its never been used. What do oyu think?

I think that Persona measures the levels of luteinising hormone (LH) in a woman's urine. Many women with PCOS have an excess of this hormone to start with so the kit would just read that. It is therefore not worth using in such circumstances.

Also such things are not worth using if the menstrual cycle is irregular in nature.

The seller may say its never been used but you cannot be completely certain.
