Any young TTCers out there, or am I the only one in the universe!?

Morning everyone!

I'm 22 and my husband is 21, we got married this summer and are trying for our first. Anyone else out there who finds themself trying to explain ovulation and pregnancy tests to clueless friends in the pub? Who is going to be the first of their friends with a baby? (and therefore have a queue of babysitters round the block, our friends have volunteered a million times to look after our as yet unconceived little one!)

You're not the only one! I'm 24, getting married in February and started SWI about 2 weeks ago. Provided everything goes well, I'll be the first among my friends to have a baby. I've already got several people wanting to be godmothers!

What I do find a bit weird is that since I first started having sex, I've been avoiding getting pregnant, and now I'm doing the opposite.

Tbh I didn't talk about it with friends but it's weird telling people I'm pregnant (am 24) as it's not even on the radar for most of them. I'm also the first of my group, but was the second to get married!

Best reply so far to the news was one of DHs friends 'Pregnant? As in with a baby?'

It is exciting! The only fly in my ointment is that I'm peeing on sticks to find out if I've ovulated, and nothing yet. Come on egg, get a move on!

Sorelip- that's the bit I hate, waiting to ovulate, the two week wait afterwards is kind of exciting!

And, 'Pregnant? As in with a baby?', that made me giggle!

Ive been on microgynol for years, back to back so I havnt had a period for years! Dunno how long Ita gunna take to get it out my system?!? Any ideas?

I've read that it can take anything from 3 months to a year to get back to normal, but then I've also heard that you can be extra fertile up to 3 months after stopping the pill. Are you still on it?

I was on it for 4 years, my cycles went right back to normal (and my sex drive is back ) I'd expected them to be all over the place!

Oh if only I could class myself as young. 28 is pushing it a bit eh?

Just thought I'd say hi,

I'm 23 and 7 weeks pg with my first. DP and I started trying when I was 22 and he was 23 (it took us 11 months). It is strange for some people to get their heads around as most of my friends my age don't feel even nearly ready to think about having a family yet.

I do have alot of friends slightly older who all have young children though so lots of people around to talk about the ins and outs with.

I think it's an extremely positive thing for us to be having our babies young as we will have loads of energy to cope with the demands of young kids. Also we are more likely to have our own parents around who can (hopefully) give the occasional hand for childcare etc.

On a much more sensible note even if I was working part time or took any more maternity leave until kiddies are of school age, after that I will still have 35 years+ to work and pay into my pension before retiring without another break in service...long way off but still.

Anyway, I wish you all lots of luck in your mission ladies. If you are not already you will become addicted to Mumsnet and find a wealth of valuable experience here.

My parents aren't overjoyed with the idea of me having children, which is weird - I thought everyone wanted grandchildren!

I'm sure they'll find it difficult not to be overjoyed when the baby is here though!

Hi, Im 23 (24 in feb) and ttc DC2! I have a beautiful DS who turned 2 at the begining of the month. Me and DH(25) started ttc last march and i luckily fell pregnant after just 3 months of trying but sadly had a missed miscarriage, found out at 13 week scan that baby died at 8 weeks! Its hard because i should have been due in feb on my birthday!
Anyway we have been trying again since August after I had a miscarriage and nothing has happened yet....but fingers crossed for this month, I am feeling positive. period due on or around 11th jan.
A lot of my friends have children though but most of my colleagues at work who are around the same age have not got and do not want children for a long time! some of them say they are too 'selfish' to have children, because they enjoy going out and spending all their wages on themselves!! They really dont know what they are missing!

Im 22, my husband is 25, we got married july 2010 and have been trying to conceive for 2 2 years (i have PCOS and we knew it would be hard) just finished my first round of clomid.. fingers crossed!

Clomid is used to make you ovulate.

I only found out today. Kept seeing it on here and I got curious. Anyone know how long you can go without ovulating before a doctor will prescribe clomid?

Hi, I'm 20 (21 in May), OH is 26 in May and we have just decided that 2011 is the year for us to TTC! However I have a massive 21st Birthday Party already planned so may not be until 2nd half of the year! We both decided a teenage pregnancy wasn't for me (not that I have any problems with it - best friend is!) just wanted to gain my qualification with a stable job with good Maternity Leave Package. Just extremely excited :D BUT am currently bring tested for underactive thyroids :(

You need to go through a pretty huge battery of tests before you get prescribed clomid especially if you've been on the pill within the last year and are under 30.

I wouldn't worry though - when I came off the pill it took a year to get back to normal.

Young doesn't equal automatic, which is why threads like this are great.
