Thanks for telling me that about first response Iggly. It'll mean that if I cave in and use a FR before AF due day that I'll not be so disappointed.

queenrollo · 17/01/2011 10:04

morning all.

Still haven't made a GP appt. I just don't feel ready to go endure blood tests and the like. Do you think I should send Dp to get checked out first?Grin
This morning a huge pack of OPK's arrived. I've never used them before. Any tips ladies?

Oddbod i had very long and irregular cycles when TTC ds. If was so frustrating. This time after coming off the pill I had several months of long and irregular cycles. I'm lucky that a good friend is a medical herbalist and I've been having a foul tasting potion off her but it has brought my cycles to a regular 31-33 days. I well understand the frustration of endlessly waiting for AF and not being able to help thinking that maybe you are pregnant.

MrsCLH · 17/01/2011 10:32

Well girls, I've taken two tests this weekend and both positive although line is faint.

Am kinda excited but AF not due till tomorrow so am scared is chemical pregnancy? Never even heard of it till this morning when I googled faint line - damn you internet.

Starting to wish I hadn't tested early but have every sympton going - constantly nauseous, very very light headed, keep feeling dizzy when I stand up, boobs so sore I couldn't even run on the treadmill in a sports bra and that's never ever happened to me before. I wanted to test to put my mind at rest because I'm a hypochondriac at the best of times and if I'm not pregnant why else do I feel like this!?!

Bit like being between a rock and a hard place because if I hadn't tested I'd be anxious about why I was feeling so weird and now I have tested I'm anxious I'm not really pregnant!

Goodness me I sound loopy, really need to relax!!

herethereandeverywhere · 17/01/2011 10:36

queenrollo (I used to love King Rollo BTW!)

I would book your blood tests with the GP. Not sure if it was psychological or just a co-incidence but the month I was booked to do the tests was the month I conceived and never needed them! Wink

With OPKs, I'd google the Deanna plan and follow that for when/how to use them. I tried the ones with 2 lines last month and found it almost impossible to interpret the results so if that's the kind you've got, read the instructions carefully! I'm back to using the digi one with a smiley face as there can be no doubt as to when/if I'm ov!

Well ladies, it's CD3 and I'm feeling utterly ropey due to horrid sinus infection. I'm on ABs, does anyone know if that will decrease my chances this cycle???

xstitch · 17/01/2011 10:44

I have been getting confused with the OPK. I thought the line looked darker yesterday CD 13 Confused. It wasn't as dark as the control line though so I don't know.

Thanks Foghorn Leghorn, am feeling particulary bad this morning, I'm so light headed, dizzy and queasy and generally weird feeling I can hardly cope with being sat at my computer! Am at work but not getting much done, is this what its going to be like for the next 9 months?! How do people cope?!!!

xstitch · 17/01/2011 11:08

Oh Mrs CLH, I missed your post congrats :).

arabella36 · 17/01/2011 12:17

Congratulations Mrs CLH. There is no doubt that two lines even if one is faint, is a positive so congratulations. In the first trimester you just have to resign yourself to going to bed at about 7 o'clock so you have enough rest to cope with work. Also, with the nausea, the best tip I had was to eat very frequently. If you wait till you're properly hungry it's too late as by then you'll feel sick. The nausea seems to be brought on when your blood sugar dips. It's also worse if your tired. So rest and eat whatever you crave in those first few weeks. Best of luck - you'll get lots of advice on the pregnancy threadsSmile

cep · 17/01/2011 12:22

welcome newbies and congrats to the bfp's

xstitch · 17/01/2011 12:24

Its really ironic that low blood sugar makes you feel sick and stops you from eating.

What do you think ladies? Positive on OPK today and DP not back until Wednesday that will be right at 48hrs. What are the chances this month?

Pixiepops · 17/01/2011 13:19

Hello! Can I squeeze onto the bus please? :)

I've been lurking for a little while after coming off the pill in November.

Here are my stats:

Pixiepops TTC#1 Cycle 3 CD6 UCL 28days AF due 9th Feb

DP & I haven't been 100% going for it so far, but I think this could be the month we really start taking it seriously - fingers crossed!

arabella36 · 17/01/2011 13:35

welcome pixie

xstitch, that doesn't sound ideal if the test means you will ovulate today. I'm not familiar with those tests, but is it possible that the positive indicates ovulation will happen sometime over the next 48 hours? What does it say in the instructions?

xstitch · 17/01/2011 14:05

It means I will ovulate in 12-48hrs arabella. I have since started with pain in my side so not hopeful :(.

Bumpsadaisie · 17/01/2011 14:20

Hi everyone - congrats to the BFPs.

Well only on CD7 here but gearing up for this month's effort!

Two questions can you help?

(1) Which brand of OPK is best? Used CB digi last time, but they really are expensive. How much less easy are the non-digi ones? I see superdrug has got 2 for 1 on OPKs at the mo (packs of 5).

(2) Last cycle my period was a week late (unheard of!) and my cycle was 38 days (whereas it is normally 29-31 regularly). Definitely ov'd as had smiley on CD20. When do you think I should start the OPKs this month? Should I just assume it will be back to a normal cycle length?

Many thanks!
Bumps x

Bumpsadaisie · 17/01/2011 14:21

PS question 3 - if I decide to use CB Digi again, do I have to buy the whole kit (including smiley face hand set) again, or can I just buy the sticks on their own? I see the shops have CB 7 stick packs, but these seem to be independent - they are the two-line variety.

Pixiepops · 17/01/2011 14:37

I've not used any ovulation tests so far, but I'd be really interested to know which ones people find best - ie easiest to read but not too expensive!

I've not tested so far as DP works away & I've sort of thought we can't do any more than just try when he's around. It'd be good to know that I am actually ovulating though.

yoshimigalloway · 17/01/2011 14:52

Hello everyone. Here i am on day 33 and still no AF. I know I should test but I feel i should leave it a little longer as I know I'd be so disapointed if its neg. I'm thinking weds but am obvs driving myself crazy with wondering. I'm not sure how long my cycle should be, last month was the first clear one off the pill and that was 27 days which would make me 6 days over? I'm not sure of symptoms, i was ill after ov with sickness and feeling dizzy. since then I have a little pink dis last monday. I have weird slightly crampy feeling in tummy for the last week, boobs not bigger but nipples a little sore and different. I am driving myself crazy, sorry to go on and on.

Test Yoshi. You know you want to!

I'm pretty convinced AF will get me this week. Think it's due today but have had none of my usual symptoms at all...until today.

Friend told me of mymonthlycycle.com which helped her get a crasp of how long her cycle actually was.

I'm going to give it a go as DH (and I to a lesser extent) don't really want to go down the temping etc route just yet.

cep · 17/01/2011 15:28

bumps if i remember correctly you have to buy the whole set, the individual sticks went with the big expensive fertility kit thing, and weren't accurate for the ovulation test.

yoshi the way i look at it is would you be more, less, same disappointed if your af came on. at least if you test you know. fx either way.

cep · 17/01/2011 15:30

moray i've just joined fertility friend.com and that gives you a few options all on the same thing, a calendar for periods etc and also a chart if you want to do temps. basic thing is free.

sevendwarves · 17/01/2011 15:51

Busy on here today, congrats to MrsCLH! Yoshi please test, you must be driving yourself crazy!

DH has admitted today feeling under a lot of pressure at the moment with work, renovating our new house and ttc. We've agreed to relax ttc until we can move into our new house (hopefully about a month). Hopefully mother nature won't let me down! Thankfully I got a +OPK a couple of days ago so I at least know when AF is due this month!

Bumpsadaisie · 17/01/2011 15:52

Yoshi -

It can't hurt to test as all reasonable calculations make you late - although keep your hopes realistic as you don't know your ordinary cycle length, and, even where your cycle length has been constant for the last year, you CAN have one which is a week late, you test and its still BFN (I had that last month, grr!)

If it IS negative, it isn't over till AF arrives - you may have ovulated very very late.
