Ding ding ding all aboard! I've been waiting for this bus since November 2009!!!

Ooooh, can I jump on the bus too!!

We're trying for our first and this is cycle number 3. CD2 at the moment, UCL 27. But on the plus side, missing the September bus means I can have lots of lovely drinkies for New Year's. :-)

AmandaCooper · 29/12/2010 18:19

Same age gap as me and my sis, except I'm 33 and she's 30. She better not try getting in there first!!

Soundofherwings welcome to the thread. Sorry you' e had no luck so far but it's very early days. Has ttc a couple of cycles made you less nervous at all?

How many people are doing temps? I did it half heartedly for DS, but turns out I was pregnant when I started so no idea how it works. I've got some CB fertility sticks - not used them before. Have even downloaded an app onto my phone (fertility friend).

CrazyAlien · 29/12/2010 19:56

hi , can I squeeze on?

TTC no.1 Cycle 6 CD9 UCL28-35!

hey all, been six months TTC now and incredibly fed up lol but am looking forward to the turn of the year as only another 6 months to go until can get help :) I have a AMH blood test tomorrow morning to see what my stats are like, have to wait 2 weeks for those results, which will be interesting!

I did use Clear Blue Fertility Monitor for 2 cycles but got a peak last month but no BFP so lost confidence and given up with it! plenty of SWI is what I am sticking to now and trying to remain with a low stress level.....very tricky!

hope you all had a fab Christmas :)

arabella36 · 29/12/2010 20:15

Hello, can someone add my stats please(I can't do it)?

TTC number 2, Cycle 1, UCL 29, CD5

I was on the September bus, but for career reasons have had to postpone TTC until now. Shouldn't really have joined the September bus at all! Not really ideal now either, but just about do-able.

AmandaCooper · 29/12/2010 20:39

I think I am going to temp, although it really messed up my sleep last time. If you do get pg it will be useful to be able to pinpoint when you OV'd.

OP posts:
queenofthecapitalwasteland · 30/12/2010 08:10

Soon as AF turns up I shall be temping (hope a baby ear one will do) seems to have been forever ttc by random swi so I going a bit militant this time Grin

AmandaCooper · 30/12/2010 09:19

According to Taking Charge of Your Fertility the ear ones are not sensitive enough.

soundofherwings · 30/12/2010 10:43

AmandaCooper- thanks! I wasn't really too nervous about the TTC, but now I'm being irrational and getting nervous that we're never going to get pregnant! (and, yes, I know that it's early days and I'm being stupid Smile ) I'm a medical student so I get nervous about the most stupid things.

And I'm temping, although not as religiously as I should because I like wine and lie-ins and they really mess up my temps.

justnodandsmile · 30/12/2010 12:18

Soundofherwings- relax! you are only on cycle 3, you really don't have anything to be nervous about. Positive thinking, fingers crossed for some fertile months ahead for all of us!
I'm not temping, I bought a CBFM instead which i'm going to start next cycle, does it help to do both?

AmandaCooper · 30/12/2010 12:29

Remember temping doesn't tell you when to SWI, it just tells you when you have OV by which time it's pretty much too late. To identify fertile days you need to check your cervical mucus.

PrincessScrumpy · 30/12/2010 12:40

I'm still on the September bus (just) but might be hoping in to the October one very soon.

queenofthecapitalwasteland · 30/12/2010 13:06

Thanks for the advice amanda, i've been using CM as a guide but just been trying to fit in SWI wherever I get a chance. Off to buy a thermometer now.

Igglystuffedfullofturkey · 30/12/2010 14:12

Where's best place to get a decent thermometer from? I used CM when I got pregnant with the miscarriage but this time I'm worried my cycle will be doolally so want to use as much as poss!

AmandaCooper · 30/12/2010 14:17

Queen ha ha while SWI wherever you get the chance is a good strategy, might I suggest you be a bit selective re possible fathers and observe public decency laws! Grin

Iggly I got mine online. They sell them in Boots but they are quite expensive - about £10.

kat2504 · 30/12/2010 15:30

Hello ladies, joining the October bus. This will be bus 5 for me and hoping it will be my lucky month. Got the hang of cbfm now, get plenty of swi, well about 3 a week so not bad, just trying to stay positive despite being a bit frustrated with ttc.

Boots have a bbt thermometer kit but you can get much cheaper on amazon or home health website. I always forget until ages after I wake up so have abandoned temping. Prefer cbfm, but it can only predict ovulation whereas temping confirms that the ovulation that cbfm predicted did in fact hsppen. So you could do both if you are really dedicated to the appliance of science!

soundofherwings · 30/12/2010 17:52

I've ended up doing a sort of half arsed mixture of temping and ovulation sticks (the cheapy ones off ebay, CBFM was too expensive). I use ovulation tests, and then I just do my temps for the 10 days or so around ovulation so I can check I actually did ovulate.
I got all my stuff online, I think the thermometer was 99p. And I'm another one who'll recommend the book 'Taking charge of your fertility', if you don't already all have it.

chocolatebuttontheif · 30/12/2010 21:02

Hi, can I join off the September bus please?

TTC#2 Cycle 2 CD1 UCL 36

AmandaCooper · 30/12/2010 23:28

Soundofherwings that sounds sensible to me. Particularly as I can't be bothered getting up at the crack of dawn to temp while I'm off work this week. DH and I are going to get all the lie ins we can while we still can!

Welcome to the bus, kat2504 and chocoloatebuttonthief. Hope this is the One for you! How many people do you usually get on a bus? Were there many bfps on the September one?

OP posts:
chocolatebuttontheif · 30/12/2010 23:36

There were only a couple of BFP's on the September bus, although I think it'll still be running for at least another couple of weeks. There were probably about 30 people on there.

I'm not bothering temping. I managed to work out ovulation last month with cheapy eBay ovulation sticks and checking CM so I'll save money and stick with that approach!

yoshimigalloway · 30/12/2010 23:39

well i don't think this is going to be the cycle for me. Only managed it twice before when i think i ov'd and have now come down with a stomach bug, feel so weak and dizzy.

AmandaCooper · 30/12/2010 23:52

Let's hope we get a few more this month then! 30's not too many, I had imagined some unmanageable number, so that I wouldn't be able to remember anyone's names!

OP posts:
Iwish · 31/12/2010 00:01

Hi all. You look like a friendly lot! Can I jump aboard the bus please?

TTC#1 Cycle5 CD27 UCL25-32.
Cycle 5 not quite over but af cramps have kicked in and temps have dropped. Feeling particularly down and miffed right now.

AmandaCooper · 31/12/2010 00:11

Iwish you probably know most people on here, it's me that's new! Welcome to bus 5. Sit down and put your feet up!
