I have recently had tests for recurrent MC and all my results have come back normal range.

The doctor I saw suggested I consider taking DHEA, as I'm blimmin' ancient and it might help Xmas Grin.

Can anyone who has used it give me any feedback on how they found it. And specifically should you continue using it when you get a BFP, or stop?

TIA.

Hi There,
Was also recommended this by Zita West clinic (as am ancient too!!).

Think it is just one of those supplements that are recommended as it is known that its supply in the body decreases with age. Think the theory is that it may improve egg quality.

Am taking three a day (as recommended by ZW) although it only says 1/per day on bottle.
Mine are "Biovea". Was planning to stop taking when/if I get pregnant although no specific guidance on this. Havent noticed any side affects good or bad!

Am taking their std pregnancy supplements too incl the fish oil ones and they also recommended Vit D. I have thrown in some extra folic acid too for good measure! Hope this helps, were you recommended anything else?

Hey Libby - thanks for reply.

If your user name is a clue I'm more ancient by 2 years ... I win, I win Xmas Grin.

I have heard from another source in the meantime, that yes, you should stop when you get pg. She was TTC for over 2 years, had tried Clomid, a couple of goes at IUI and was just about to start IVF. She had been taking DHEA for about 6 weeks when she found out she was pg naturally...! She's 40.

No I haven't been recommended anything else, though I am using progesterone cream (a hang over from after my 2nd MMC when I hadn't had full testing, and thought despite a reasonable day 21 prog level that it couldn't do any harm. I went on to have a third MMC though.) I am just taking pregnacare and for the last month extra folic acid (equiv to 1200 a day). Again just anecdotally suggested it might help.

I have been TTC#2 since June 2009, and have had 3 MMCs all around 12 weeks in that time, last one in August. So having taken a few months off for testing I'm back on the horse. As it were. Maybe that's where I'm going wrong... Xmas Wink.

Hi
My consultant also recommended DHEA following a MMC after our last ICSI cycle. Haven't quite got my arse in gear to order them yet though! Blush

Libby - Do you know whether the ones you get from biovea are micronised? My consultant said that's what I should be looking for.

Thanks!

Hi spencermoon - have no idea about the micronised aspect, but my consultant recommended Biovea too. Happy shopping Xmas Smile.
