Just wondering how you came to the decision to ttc? Or was it mostly you who wanted it and you had some persuading to do? Did you feel like you were nagging your DP?

My DH does want kids, but he seems to think it's something that'll magically happen really easily when we want it to, and he doesn't seem to fully understand that's not how it works and that at my age, regardless of whether our financial situation is totally perfect, we do need to get a wriggle on.

I want to ttc NOW goddamit Xmas Sad

I'd appreciate some insight into this from those who've had their first already, and any tips for subtle persuasion of DH that kids are the beginning, not the end!

wow I could of written that misshelltoe! We have been married 5 years in july. We decided (after moving to the other side of the country for his job) that we would ttc in 2011. He does want kids, he just doesn't realise that i won't just wake up pregnant and the baby wont come exactly when a) we will have no financial issues b) it is convenient for his job.
We wont have our perfect house and total financial seecurity for a while. but were comfortable. and in a damn site better position than his or my parents were. I said this morning TTC=off the pill 1/1/11 he thought we would get pregnant on our holiday in june. how precise of him!

Haha whens my DH seems to think we can time it perfectly too. We've not used protection for 10 months, only avoiding 10 days around ovulation, and since I'm not pg yet I'm obviously not one of these women who will conceive in the blink of an eye. I'm due to ovulate on Xmas day, so am going to be putting on my Ann Summers sexy Santa costume in the lead-up as a persuasion tactic Xmas Wink

I told my DH that I was coming off the pill and it was up to HIM if he didn't want me to conceive! That soon changed his mind!

MissHellToe · 19/12/2010 20:07

English I did similar - I wasn't too impressed with the Pill, I kept bleeding mid-cycle and having massive mood swings at the time - DH hates condoms hence we're using 'natural family planning' which I thought was ace as it's not supposed to work, problem is it is working! Xmas Angry I managed to seduce DH today with 6 days til ovulation so fingers crossed. He's refusing any further romping til after Xmas.

Grrr men! My DP won't ttc no3. He's happy to use the withdrawal method, and will 'face the 'consequences'' when/if they happen but he doesn't want to actually plan another baby! ....I make a point seducing him when its most useful!! In sure ethically I'll go to hell, but hey ho!

The things said in this thread ring so true! Exactly what whens said, I could have written this thread myself, would have said the exact same thing. It's pretty much like you said, mostly me who wants it (desperatly..) and DPs in need of some persuading. It really does feel like all I do is nag. It's tough to get a convocation out of him anyway (he's naturally quiet), but this topic is obviously a little harder going!

Ive been on the injection for a fair time, a year and a half I think. Injection was due mid December, and I told him I wasn't keen on getting it renewed (im not sure if he'd put two and two together as to why I wasn't keep, i did try to explain it!). In the end I did end up getting it, as he acted really cool and relaxed about it and didn't give me any imput either way.

Renewal is due mid march, and I've just decided Im not going to renew it (I know it may take some time for my body to sort itself out after I come off it), and as English said, if he doesn't want me to conceive it's up to him!

Sooo frustrating.

We just didn't use contraception on our honeymoon. We didn't really discuss having children until I was already pregnant with dd2.

We're hoping to have dc3 and actually had a conversation about it this time!
