your most fertile time is on or the few days after you ovulate. this differs between every woman and even between every cycle for each individual woman.

do you know when you ovulate?

how long is your cycle?

a great suggestion for you to read is "taking charge of your fertility". it tells you how you can chart your cycles to be able to accurately predict when you will ovulate.

You are most fertile in the days leading up to ovulation. The egg only lives for 12hrs so you will not be fertile for very long at all after ovulation.

Check out www.nfpta.org.uk/ for info.

If you have a 28 day cycle then you probably (if you are average) ovulate on around day 12-16 after the first day of your period. So sex between about day 10 and day 17 should cover it.

Having said that, there are no hard and fast rules and the best way to get pregnant is regular sex every 2-3 days throughout your cycle.
