oooh how exciting

we are too trying as of this month (but havent made it to my fertile time yet)... thats next weekend Wink

Tip
You MUST take Folic acid (ideally for 3months before getting pregnant)
its good for OH to take zinc (but takes 100 days for benefits of taking zinc to be obtained)

Avoid caffein / alcohol / aspartane / cigarett smoke / artificial 'stuff' from now

I "chart" which he has helped me understand my cycle for the past 5 months, and now we are actually trying, i have a clear blue fertility monitor.

If you want to chart you can get a thermometer from ebay, that comes with a batch of ovulation and / or pregnancy tests for about a fiver delivered

Good Luck

how exciting! good luck. Depending on how quickly you want to fall pregnant - we were trying for ds2 for 5 months (not doing anything special, just not using contraception) and nothing happening so after reading some suggestions on here, and before resorting to ovulation kits, taking temperature etc, we did one month of having sex every other day, all month. It was exhausting! (seriously) but it worked!

Good luck.

put a pillow under your bum and don't get up for half an hour after "doin' it" to give little swimmers a chance to get to where they need to be, otherwise it's easy for them to kind of fall out!! Blush

hippieshake · 12/12/2010 19:02

Oooh, I'm signing into Ebay now.

I should hopefully be ovulating within the next few days, I'm thinking that we could manage every other day.

Fingers crossed!! x

Ooh, and already on the folic acid. We started the OH on zinc about two weeks ago.

Any foods that are particularly good or anything?

xx

pretty sure its grapefruit juice before ovulation (to help EWCM)

and pineapple juice after ovualtion (to aid implantation)

but i think you need to to grapefruit all month, ideally for a few months for there to be an affect.
(and some people are adament it doesnt do anything, where as others swear blind it did help them!)

iwilldothis · 12/12/2010 19:07

oh yes...buck wheat...sprinkle it over your cereal

ChippingIn · 12/12/2010 19:10

Good lord - just stop with the contraception and enjoy yourselves for a while!

UnpureAsTheDrivenSHOW · 12/12/2010 19:10

If you have no known fertility issues and you're both fit and healthy, eat a reasonable diet etc then just have plenty of sex. Folic acid is the only thing that really you should be taking as extra.

Charting is v useful and interesting but fertility monitors and ovulation sticks aren't really necessary. Why not take a relaxed approach at first? Enjoy the way in which the baby is made and see what happens? Otherwise, it can lead to disappointment/obsession/sex for conception's sake only.

You don't need to lie on a pillow, bum in the air and all of that. Your body is cleverer than that. Sperm can swim in the direction they need to. Nowt to do with gravity. In fact there's an argument to suggest that the best swimmers go the right way anyway, you don't want to be encouraging the others that way anyway. They'll do what they need to.

It's exciting and wonderful and lovely but in the main, you are made to do this. Don't make it a science experiment or sex something you HAVE to do on THIS day. That way madness lies.

But feel free to disregard. I think conception and obsession go hand in hand sometimes. Grin
