Confused!?!

Hello all,

Af is due tomorrow but i just couldn't wait so i finally caved in and did a pregnancy test - a clear blue (not the digital one), i didn't immediately notice a line so i didn't look at it for a while (maybe 10 - 15 minutes) and then when i went back to move it i noticed a faint line. Could that be a positive or is it more likely to be an evaporation line?

Later i did a digital one that came back and said not pregnant.

Am a grasping at straws and just need someone to beat me over the head with one of these tests until i see common sense.

So annoyed with myself that i didn't pay more attention to that first test

If a line comes up within the time specified on the instructions, it's positive.

If no line comes up in the specified time, it's negative.

You need to throw them away once the time is up and not look at them again.

I know it's frustrating though.

And don't do two in one day either. Make sure you use first thing in the morning wee unless you're a week or so late. It really does make a difference.

Try again tomorrow and let us know!

Thanks, I do now that you shouldn't look after the time limit next time it will be eyes closed as it gets dropped in the bin.

Buttonmoon - I know, I know! I just couldn't control myself, all this TTC has thrown my common sense out the window.

It is very frustrating and sorry you didn't get the positive result. I had one last week with a sort of faint line 15 mins later and spent ages analysing it under a lamp, repeating the test, etc etc. It didn't magically make me pregnant! If AF due tomorrow a test ought to be accurate but you aren't out of the game until the period shows up so give it a couple of days I'd say.

Did you do one this am?? I just had the same experience - took test, -ve, fished out of bin 30 mins later (why oh why do we do these things?!?) and there is the faintest smidgen of a pink line.

I am eager to know what yours said this am!

Yep I tested again, I got up this morning and rushed to the bathroom, peed on my stick (weird how I think that this is such a normal behaviour now) and I got a BFN (clearblue digital). AF was due today but so far not reared it's ugly head. I've pretty much gave up hope for this month but still don't really feel like my period is here.

Terry - Fingers crossed for you! At least we are in good company, obsessing all around.

Jules how long after taking your initial test did you look at it? And did the line have any colour?

The line did have a blue colour about it, when I initially looked at it I only left it for 30 or so seconds and jumped in the shower, I then looked at it when I came out so it must have only been 10 or 15 minutes at the most.

I was really hoping the test this morning would have been positive, but sadly it was a BFN.

Have you tested again? How are you getting on?

Was it a blue line test?!? I only ask because mine was a pink line test and it had a slight pink twinge, from the reading I've been doing it says that evap lines are grey or no colour.

I know I should wait till tomorrow, but am currently holding my pee....

I was using clear blue tests that use a blue dye. I read that about the grey or no colour as well and ever other test i have done when it is negative it never develops an evaporation line. I'm still waiting on AF but if it doesn't arrive tomorrow I will test again (need to go out and buy some thou).

When is you AF due?

Due on Friday if its a 28 day cycle but since coming off the pill I have had 26, 27 and 28 day so anyday now I guess!

Going to buy a First Response on the way home. Will wait until have held pee for 5 hours!

5 hours should hopefully be concentrated enough, first response are always the ones I buy when they are available.

I will have my fingers and toes crossed for you!!
