trace2 · 26/09/2005 10:19

aloha · 26/09/2005 10:20

How long have you been trying?

Nemo1977 · 26/09/2005 10:20

bit unfair but can understand why as fertility treatment limited anyway. Howver would have thought they could help to at least determine ovulation etc.

trace2 · 26/09/2005 10:23

came of depo in jan to try, i know ishould'nt moan because theres lots been trying for longer.

but i feel like i know its not going to happen.
or does everybody feel like that?

OP posts:
Nemo1977 · 26/09/2005 10:26

i felt like that completely and am 27. We ttc for our baby for 6mths then had a missed mc not found till 15wks. Then we ttc again for another 3mths to be pg with this baby. Was annoying as with ds we just said mm shall we have a baby then found out 2 weeks later we were pregnant..lol He will be 2 next week but have actually been pg 5 times but on 2nd viable one.

trace2 · 26/09/2005 10:29

oh Nemo1977 am sorry i feel like a moaner now

OP posts:
Nemo1977 · 26/09/2005 10:32

no..lol just saying i can understand the wanting..and every month makes oyu feel worse. if you only stopped depro in jan it can take up to a year to get out of your system. Have you tried ovualtion tests to see if you are ovulating?

trace2 · 26/09/2005 10:35

yer but am not yet

OP posts:
Janbo25 · 26/09/2005 10:38

I didn't start start to ovulate again properly for 12 months after coming off depo, so could just be the after effects of that trace?

staceym11 · 26/09/2005 11:07

will bump this thread, have no idea what your going through but would like to add support, we'r ttc and iv always said it is the worst thing to want and not be able to have iykwim, there is no substitute!

trace2 · 26/09/2005 11:09

trace2,

Am sorry to read its like this, I would seriously consider changing GPs to find someone hopefully more helpful.

It is not correct for him to say that you're too old. If you're over 35 the general consensus is that gynaes like to see people after six months of ttc without success.

trace2 · 26/09/2005 11:19

will try asking for help again if he says no may cosider changing gps.

Nbg · 26/09/2005 11:20

Of course

Trace2

I know exactly how you feel. I've wondered sometimes about posting the same thing, not exactly wanting a reply, just wanting to say it.

I've got 2 ds - age 4 and 2. Since ds2 I've had a really rubbish menstrual cycle (alternating short and long cycles) and am now having it investigated. I'm just 38 and no one has ever said to me that I'm too old for investigation - I just went for one this morning actually, and am booked in for another in March, also in the middle of having day 2 and 21 blood tests to detect ovulation (consultant slightly poo-pooed my temperature taking or any suggestion I'd use ovulation tests at home).

If I don't get another baby soon I'm going to burst! (And I'm so afraid that I am going to burst! )

tegan · 26/09/2005 13:14

I know exactly how you feel too. my dd1 is 7 and I said I would never have another but 6 years on decided I was desperaqte for another now dd2 is 17 months and I have wanted another since the minute she popped out but don't really have enough bedroom space for anymore

trace2 · 26/09/2005 13:40

am same about if didnt get replys, just needed to tell someone, its soo hard to explain how i feel, only like you ready to burst, burst out crying. just phoned gp for another appointment tell him how i feel. even if its just to tell me am overlating.

ionaming · 26/09/2005 18:47

Trace2, you should definitely seek a 2nd opinion. We have been ttc no. 2 for 10 months now & the 1st doctor we saw didn't want to know. So I went to see another doctor (but within the same practice) and the outcome is I have now been referred to a fertility consultant & am waiting for my first appointment to come through.

Or another option is to go for a private consultation. I think the cost is around £150 & it's still possible to get NHS treatment after the initial consultation.

jamiesam · 26/09/2005 21:34

Good luck with gp appt trace.

If you don't have any luck with the gp practice, is it worth contacting your primary health trust, or patient advice and liaison service, to find our whether gp is reasonable in refusing any investigations, based purely on age?

trace2 · 27/09/2005 10:01

thanks everybody didnt expect any replys. will let everybody know what happens

Oh honey there are a lot of us out here....... My DD is 2 now and I desperately wanted a small gap. Even if I got pregnant now there would be 3 years between them and I'm worried thats already too big. SO stupid so irrational I know but all my friends have already had their second. I thought after having one I would be content at least
