Hi,
Anyone out there used a good over the counter progesterone cream to extend luteal phase? Or do you have any other tips on how to extend? Mine is currently around 9 days.
Thanks!

hiya, B6 vitamins have worked for me, extended by 1-2 days. I did buy some cream but tbh I was worried about using it once I got it, as it adding to your natural hormones. I would advise asking your GP for blood tests first Smile Good luck, let me know how you go on x

Thanks Greeneyes. I did also buy myself a vit b complex supplement the other day, which has 50mg B6 in it as well as 20mg B6 in a fertility supplement I'm taking, so 70mg per day. How much are you taking? You're prob right about progesterone. I'll see what the B6 does and then go to drs after Christmas if nothing changes. BTW how long did it take to have an effect on your cycle? x

Hi, just read your posting. Im not sure about the progesterone cream but I know there are steps you can take to boost your fertility in all different ways. Pride Angel is a website that you can buy kits of things to boost your fertility. May be worth having a look to see what you think if you could benefit from any of them? Hope things work out for you, let us know how you get on. Good luck xx

Hi, I am pregnant now and do not know what my luteal phase was as I never did any medical tests, and ovulation tests failed to track my ovulation. I did use progesterone gel (Progestogel sold in France and Germany over the counter) for about a year on my breasts to treat symptoms of fibromatosis. My obstetriatian said there would be no side affects in using it (if anything it was probably helpful) and I continued to use it for the 1st 3 months of pregnancy. If it is progesterone in a pure form without additives, I would definitely give it a shot if I were you. In many countries, they prescribe Utrogestan suppositories (based on progesteron) for women having conception difficulties. The problem is that most UK doctors are quite opposed to using hormone therapies (unlike their European and US counterparts), and a lot of hormone based drugs are not licensed int hei scountry, but who's got the time to try for 2 years and only then get a treatment?

Thanks for the advice wrighty2010 and Lilly13 and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy Lilly. I think I will go to the doctors and ask for their advice before getting some. The thing is I'm not too sure what the problem is. My cycle is about 25 days. I ovulate around day 12/13 so even though that's not too bad in terms of luteal phase, it could be better. BUT ever since mc during Summer I spot for about 4 days before AF starts. I know some professionals deny spotting is a problem, but I'm sure it's linked to my not getting pregnant (have had 3 pregs and always on first month of trying). I get very sharp little twinges in my uterus (or thereabouts!?) a few hours before the spotting starts and my gut feeling is it's the uterus starting to slowly shed. I will give vit b6 a go this month and see if that extends cycle at all and then go for tests after Christmas.

Hi Very Veronica,

I've just started charting cycles (fertility signs, length etc but not temperature yet) and I'm worrying as have just had a 25 day cycle. ( following a 27 day one) I keep googling and it does say that normal is 25 days plus, but I can't help but feel I'd like it to be longer. Your post confirms this to me. Have you read anything, or can you recommend any reading for me for short cycles? I also spot for two days before AF actually arrives.

Thanks.

Hi Folicacid, no, no reading as such, just googling myself crazy and over the counter remedies like B6 (as part of a B complex) and progesterone. And obviously going to the Dr to ask for tests (to check progesterone levels Ok in luteal phase). Have been recommended 'Taking charge of your fertility' by Toni Weschler many times and do mean to buy it. I think she talks about cycle length in that. Maybe someone else has advice/reading recommendations?
Good luck x
