Evening primrose oil - OK to use if TTC?

I'm a bit confused about whether it's OK to take evening primrose oil when TTC.

I started taking it over the summer as I was getting terrible PMT, really sad and angry which was horrible. GP suggested EPO and (whether this was placebo effect or not) I noticed an improvement from the next month, so have kept taking it.

I mentioned that we would be TTC DC2 at some point and she said it could even help, so assumed all fine.

We are now TTC - just looked at the EPO bottle and it says to consult doctor before using if PG or planning a PG.

Help - are there risks if I keep taking it?

EPO can cause contractions of the uterus, and therefore is not recommended during the 2ww.

EPO is used by some women to help induce labour at the end of their pregnancies.

It is fine to use in the first half of your menstral cycle though.

Just came on to post what galwaygal has. Smile

I took EPO up to ovulation when ttc to improve the quantity of cervical fluid. Worked a treat and I conceived that cycle. Good luck.

Aha, OK that makes sense. Need to stop now then as I think that's where I am now.

Thanks both.
