Is spotting before period always bad?

Hi

I had a MC in August at 7 weeks. Before this I always had 24/5 day cycles and spotting at 9/10 DPO with period arriving 11/12dpo. Now my cycles have got back to normal after the MC I still have spotting for 2 days before AF and then have a normal period (though B6 has lengthened my luteal phase to 11 days).

I have read mixed things about this spotting. Some people says it's normal and other sya it's a sign of a hormonal problem. I conceived fairly easily so don't think its a problem for me but wondered if I should see a GP? Has anyone who spots 2 days before AF had a succesful pregnancy?

The internet has too much information.....

Sorry about your mc. I have always had brown spotting before my period, sometimes for 3 days or so. I never thought much of it actually and I think it's pretty common.
I have a 2 yr old DD by the way! We have been trying for #2 for a while and I had a mc at 6 weeks at Halloween, but I have never been led to believe it's down to the spotting.

Good luck!

So sorry about your MC.

As far as I know (though I am willing to be corrected) it's mid cycle/mid luteal phase spotting that is of concern, not spotting in the couple of days before your period - unless that spotting means your un-spotted luteal phase becomes short (less than 9-10 days).

I believe the sort of spotting you describe is caused by your progesterone levels falling, which is normal before your period - it's just if they don't stay high for long enough that it might be a problem.
