Carloss - with a monitor you don't get an egg picture at all - you get a number of bars, 1 bar for low, 2 bars for high and 3 bars for a peak (ie egg) so it sounds like yours is working well for you.

Hi girls

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to Christmas!

Carloss if you have 2 bars on the monitor it shows you are fertile but haven't ovulated yet. The third bar shows the peak of hormone (LH) that your body produces just before ovulating. Some people don't ovulate every month though, so don't worry if you don't get 3 bars one month. I can have 5 days of 2 bars before I get 3. Some people can have longer that I think.

But if you have several months in a row without ever getting 3 bars then that is worth mentioning to your doctor.

I have a rotten cold and I'm dying to have a good snort of Vicks Sinex to clear out all the gunk. But I'm in the 2 week wait period so daren't. The saline nasal spray isn't working particularly brilliantly. What do other people do during the 2ww, do you avoid all cold remedies completely?

roastie · 23/12/2010 13:59

Merry Christmas Everyone. Can't believe its Christmas eve tomorrow Yippeee!

Im on the dreaded 2WW, and i started thinking should i even be drinking in the next 2 weeks?? I dont normally drink, just on special occassions, so i normally go months and months with out any alcohole. So im not quite sure what to do. Anyone else on the 2WW and avoiding anything over the Christmas Period?

Also are there anything else i should really be avoiding at this time???

Lychees · 23/12/2010 15:29

Hi All, yes, it is Christmas Eve Eve Xmas Smile.

I'm tea-total so drinking is not a problem but I have avoided cold meds on the 2ww and with my hives, I have been avoiding taking anti-histamines during the 2ww, too.

I'm still waiting for AF so the timing for my first scan is looking good.

roastie · 23/12/2010 16:26

Good Luck with AF Lychees. Why do you avoid cold meats???

Lychees · 23/12/2010 16:31

Roastie ... cold medicines. Lol Xmas Grin.

Yes, AF could be actually late for the right reasons so that I won't need to take Clomid or have my scan. But it's unlikely ... I just can't imagine getting a natural BFP now.

In case, I don't get a chance to come back on here tomorrow; Merry Christmas All and loads and loads of luck for some BFP's on here soon.

fr00tbat · 24/12/2010 09:08

Husband complaining- have been at it since day 10- now day 23- doesnt winge when is his idea......

Merry christmas and baby dust to all, xx

AnytimeNOW · 24/12/2010 10:17

Good Morning Ladies...

Sorry have been awol for a whileHmm
Have been hiding under the duvet for most of the last month...hoping to keep hold of my little bean!! I had my BFP on the 20th November...but am only just starting to believe/hope it's actually maybe happening.

May sound daft but after three losses back to back this year I have just been expecting this one to be the same (so far so good tho).

I am now 8weeks 3days, and this is the furthest I have gotSmile...we had an early scan at 6 and 7 weeks as I'm under the care of the miscarriage clinic in Liverpool, and thankfully at 7 weeks they detected a heartbeat. My consultant says if we can get to 10 weeks then the risk of loss is 2%...so I'm kinda wishing the next week and a half away...I feel we have had the best early Christmas present ever.

After such a sad year I had almost given up, iI had basically written the whole thing off, I decided to start Acupuncture basically to try and de-stress. The lady was recommended to me, and if also Zita West acreditated in fertility.
I told her my history of the past year, and she set to work on balancing my hormones, emotions, and my conception meridians ( all cut as had 2 sections?!!)...and after two sessions I was pregnant again, so continued with treatment to strengthen me and hopefully the pregnancy.

I would never have believed that it could have such an impact until I experienced it myself...I am still going now and she really helps with my neausea and energy levels...it mat all be coincidence, but I'm sticking with itSmile.

If it's ok I would like to stay on this thread for a while longer? just not ready to move yet.

I hope everybody is doing ok, and looking forward to Christmas...here's to a brand new year filled full of fresh hope for allXmas Smile.

Merry Christmas ladies X

arabella36 · 24/12/2010 12:48

Best of luck with your pregnancy AnytimeXmas Smile

Keziahhopes · 24/12/2010 20:01

lovely to hear from you Anytime - be great for you to stay here I think, to hear how you get on ... and share tips!! I have started accupuncture also, with a zita west trained person to see if it can help where nothing else has (to get a bfp!) - do let us know when you get to 10 weeks Smile xx

Merry Christmas all!

Im 6 days post ovulation and as sick as a bloody dog. I know the signs from my previous unsuccessful pregnancies. Sorry this doesnt sound excited and hopeful. To me the link between being pregnant and having an actual baby has never materialised and im more wondering what will go wrong, and when.

Just updating as yesterday AF came - god I hate her - she's such a bitch! I'm so disappointed as I thought I was pregnant because I've been so constipated for the last 10 days. So I marked the occasion last night with an extra glass of wine and a good snort of Vicks Sinex. This morning I even had a Lemsip too! Yay!

Congrats to everyone who has had a BFP. I won't get one now til atleast after my 44th birthday which is next month. Do you think I should just give up??

Hello All

AnytimeNow That's wonderful news. I am really pleased for you and wish you every success for this pregnancy.

Zebedee and Keziah really sorry AF got you both. I started spotting on Christmas Day, and reset the monitor today as AF has arrived with a vengeance Sad.

DH told me a couple we are close to are pregnant. I know that this firend was still on the pill in July and now she's 10 weeks. He told me Christmas Eve and I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. Don't know why it has affected me so much this time.

Lychees Good luck with your scan and treatment. At least things are moving forward now.

Well, the bit of good news is that on Thursday 23rd we received a letter from the fertility clinic to say that our referral and results had been reviewed by the Consultant. It then said to expedite all the appropriate investigations we were to telephone to make an appointment at the with the Nurse Consultant at the nurse-led fertility clinic.

I phoned up straight away and have an appointment on 5th January. Couldn't believe it. This is the NHS too. I am very impressed. The nurse orders up any further tests (presumably the HSG for me) and then once the results are back from that we see the Consultant who will advise what next.

KnackeredCow, sorry AF got you but it's great that you have a FC appointment on 5th ... not long now.

Sorry AF got you, too Keziah and Zebedee.

Zebedee, I've often thought about when to give up but there is fight left in me and DH still. You need to go with what's right for you and your family.

Keziah, I avoided Channel Four on Xmas day ... couldn't face it. But did the right thing and went to see my Brother and his permanently pregnant g/friend.

Congrats Anytime!

IloveKittyElise, keeping my fingers crossed for you.

KC - so want to move to wherever you live!!! S sorry about AF, but not long to go before you can do next step of testing.

And sorry for AF getting you also Lychees

Zebedee agree with Lychees, it is up to you... only you know your body, other children etc and what you can cope with - have you been to gp about the length of time it is taking tcc#2? Sorry if you already posted that - but if not I would and at least get blood tests etc to see if anything obvious (not sure if they test etc if it is 2nd child etc, just that the nhs not fund ivf if you already have a child - but worth a try for tests etc?)
