Ladies from Vol4 - welcome to our new home.

OP posts:
Keziahhopes · 17/02/2011 20:22

MiniH - yes, definitely for people with longer cycles the monitor starts much later, to suit your own cycle. That is why the first cycle is so important, as it picks you up later to start if you need to.

SBC - great you got that cancellation! It is frustrating about PCOS, but until I saw the 3rd gynaecologist I never knew I probably am on the lower end of a PCOS spectrum. Am very interested about you having medication for your prolactin, as this is something I asked for several times and no dr would refer me to endocrinology, as highest level was only 845... do you mind saying what your levels are? As high prolactin stops conception naturally! Great that you may get a natural bfp now - do you know how long they will try you natural before an IUI? Now you can see if you get any changes on the monitor!

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 18/02/2011 11:10

Hi Keziah

The lowest level was 600 then up to to 900, they're putting me on a low dose of carboline for 2-3 months then review bloods, may then add metformin to the mix.

Have FC app on 8th March, so will find out then what the score is with the IUI.

Still no AF for me, still got crampy feeling, emotional and spotty - so typically the symptoms of both AF and PG. Couldn't help myself this am and did a test - BFN - but to be expected a it is still actually only 7DPO - think I would have to wait another week if no AF to test again for anything to register Sad

Means I don't wanna risk a Wine just yet, will have to stick with Brew and Biscuit Confused

Keziahhopes · 18/02/2011 17:57

SBC, thanks for the figures... my level is about the same but no one would refer me to an endocrinologist. As it happens we have found out male factors are the issue also, but if our ivf fails then think I will be trying to insist for 3rd time about seeing an endocrinologist. Was it your gp that referred you?

SBC - I know the feeling, used to test all the time. Hope things better very soon!

I am now very spotty, but that is the only side effect so far of my treatment. Definitely caffeine free Brew here and soon I will be having my protein shakes as well, as my big tub arrived today!

fr00tbat · 19/02/2011 08:17

Still nothing, have had cramps, but nothing else, boobs normal and bfn. Did have a bit of spotting 2 days ago- but now gone. Temps have dropped off- saw doctor - have us and bloods booked for after af, tired of waiting now, just want to get started on a fresh cycle.
Congrats clock- cant believe i missed your post, v pleased for you. Big congratulations on the job kc, keeping fingers crossed you x
Ooh hormone spots keziah- you have my sympathy, but sure will be worth it.
Off to reassure confused monitor it is still needed, this cycle has been going on forever!

aMuminwaiting · 19/02/2011 11:19

after a mammoth 17 days of high I've gone down to low. Is there still a chance I ovulated and the monitor missed it?

Ilovekittyelise · 19/02/2011 11:51

Hello Ladies

Been thinking of you all a lot this week.

keziah sorry to hear about your spots but hey at the least its for all the right reasons. How does the whole thing work now do you have to take the drugs for a certain time and then have eggs taken etc? whats the big tub? sorry im really ignorant and i dont know anything about what you are going through.

KC congrats on your job and im really hoping that this month might be all yours.

boba when is your scan is it this week? mine is wednesday; im thinking of you a lot too.

everyone else be kind to yourselves, enjoy your wine and keep shagging, today might be the day....

boba82 · 19/02/2011 17:41

keziah sorry about the spots, FX they'll be worth it.

kitty mine's is Wed too, I'm so nervous, are you?

OP posts:
Keziahhopes · 19/02/2011 20:40

kitty - I am injecting from day 21 of cycle with suprecur that stops my normal cycle from happening. When af comes (should be now!) I have to phone and about day 7 of next cycle then scan me, internally, to check my lining of womb thin and no follicles. If so I can then inject myself with a stimulating drug as well as the suprecur until I start to grow follicles and hopefully eggs in the,! They scan me and then hopefully there will be eggs to take out! The big tub is 41oz of a protein shake mix I bought to try and grow good eggs. 20g of eggs per pint I make up with milk, which will be a 3rd of my protein needs sorted!!

Hope your scan goes well on Wed kitty and boba

kezia thanks for explaining and good luck. im so glad you have finally got the IVF i guess its just waiting now. maybe twins for you!

boba how funny we are the same day. I'm really nervous to be honest, as you may or may not remember i had a T21 pregnancy last year which we ended at 13 and a half weeks. I went into the scan so excited only to be told that the nuchal fold was 5mm, and then the news got worse and worse; so its hard to have the same naieve excitement. I do so hope things will be good for both of us - statistically that is the most likely outcome, keep hold of that and let me know how you get on xxx

StormBird · 20/02/2011 16:53

Hi Everyone,

Boba my 20 week scan will be on March 7th - when I am in fact 22 weeks (I think)!!! Looking forward to getting that over and done with - hoping for a good outcome and also hoping that if we do have a good scan I can finally start to relax into the whole pregnancy thing - Still in disbelief, still believe it must be a dream, still waiting for something to go horribly wrong deep down, but fiercly trying to keep up a decent PMA!!!

DP and I definately felt baby kick the other day and it was so nice that DP felt it too. Haven't really felt much in the way of kicks since but I'm sure the rolling feeling I get every now and then must be baby. Just hoping that I can start to properly distinguish between baby and my own body soon. MW said that in normal circumstances I should be able to feel baby move around 10 times a day but as its my first (well the first PG to result in birth we hope) I may not start to feel this properly for another few weeks yet!

Kitty I can ttally sympathise with the way you are feeling about your scans. And have to say that I do not look forward to any of mine (which is a shame). Like you, I'm so afraid of bad news!! But the one thing that has got me through is by using them as milestones.

Good luck to you both ( Boba & Kitty ) for Wednesday. Let us know how you get on.

I have my fingers crossed for those of you on the 2WW - I certainly remember how much it seemed to drag.

Keziah Good luck to you also with the IVF Smile - I'm so pleased something more positive is now happening for you on your TTC journey - I will be following your story avidly.

Much Love

Ilovekittyelise · 20/02/2011 17:56

storm will be thinking of you on the third....know what you mean about the worry etc; i know if all goes well on wednesday the count down of worry to the 20 week one begins...have you bought any baby stuff yet? xxx

2ww-ers go on have that glass of wine, damned if you do damned if you dont....my 2ww was over christmas and i was pretty sure i was pregnant - i was a bit naughty (well, very actually).

Loup23 · 20/02/2011 19:17

ooo thanks kitty just needed someone to say it was ok, Im having a glass of white on 7dpo, going to try and hold out to test until wednesday.....

KnackeredCow · 21/02/2011 09:39

Hi Ladies

Just catching up on the thread.

Welcome to MiniH! Smile

Thank you everyone for your congratulations on the new job. I shall be shopping for a car and some new work clothes this week!

Boba and Kitty All the best for Wednesday. I will be thinking of you both.

Storm Good luck for your scan too.

Keziah Not long for you at all now. I am really excited for you. Sorry to hear about the spots though, but I am sure they will be worth it in the end. How about using them as an excuse to treat yourself to a nice bottle of foundation?

Hello to everyone else that I haven't mentioned by name.

Well, it looks like my mid-luteal phase bleeding is just irregular bleeding. I started to bleed 7dpo and have been bleeding on and off very lightly ever since. I am now 13dpo. I have never had any bleeding / spotting that early in my cycle ever before and so I was sort of hoping that it might be an implantation bleed. Finally caved in this morning and POAS. BFN Sad So just waiting for AF to arrive in full.

DH doesn't think I should be too worried as it is an exception rather than the rule, and I have been under stress looking for a new job and feeling really low.

Having a new job to start is a good thing. At least it's softened the blow of another BFN this month.

So DH and I have decided to take next month off of TTC. I am staying on the stats, but we just need to give ourselves a break. I know we should really go for it as I had the HSG done, but I just don't think I can. Sad It will be the second time we've chosen to take a month off TTC (last time was May 2010). I feel I am letting myself down in some bizarre way, but our sex life is quite frankly crap at the moment; it's all about making babies and I think we need to concentrate on our relationship properly. I also feel a real need to be in control of my life again, even if only for a brief period. Does that sound odd?

Well here are today's stats:

Congrats on the job KC great to have something else to think about for a while.

When did you POAS and get a BFN? From what i've read (ALOT) implantation can be so different from woman to woman. I've been on and off bleeding since 2dpo - 6dpo and only on 8dpo now but still hoping..... I hope AF stays away.

Even though i've only been trying properly two months i also feel like taking a month off as agree with you, the sex life becomes all about biology! Maybe it will happen when you least expect it, anyway hope a BFP comes your way soon x

StormBird · 21/02/2011 13:23

Hi Ladies,

Sorry about AF KC but I also agree with Loup - there's still a glimmer of hope. Will be keeping my fingers crossed. In the meantime I can totally understand your decision to take a month off, I really hope it does you and your DP the world of good hun. Goood luck and hopefully you can come back as a gradutate Smile

Kitty Thank you - yes i have bought some baby stuff, we've got bottles a steraliser, nappies, sleep suits, babygrows and a blanket so far. I Have stopped there though as my mum and sister have been going mad buying stuff by all accounts so when I go to see them at the weekend I can get a taster of what they've got - will probably not need to buy another thing the way they spend money Hmm

We are going back up north to see my parents for the weekend and and mum & dad has been talking about visiting MotherCare World and this that and the other - Dad has also said he'd buy the pushchair woop woop. So will probably end up with one of them this weekend too!!!!

Anyway thats enough about me.......will keep lurking and hoping for you all.

KnackeredCow · 21/02/2011 13:34

Hi Loup I POAS first thing this morning. I'm 13 dpo. Apparantly HPTs should be about 97% accurate at this point.... I used a sensitive 20 iU/ml test too. No pregnancy type symptoms either, except sore boobs, but I get those when I am pre-menstrual anyway. The things I share with you ladies Blush

Storm Thanks for the words of encouragement. That's really kind.

Is your baby going to be first grandchild for your parents? They must be really excited. Smile

tillydream · 21/02/2011 15:54

Hello all

I have everything crossed for all going for scans. Big hugs. I know exactly what you mean.

Keziah how are you doing? Do you mind me asking why they prescribed protein shakes? Spots will go, I quite liked having them, showed that the hormones were doing their job! I can't egg share hun, at 37, time is not on my side.

Well cd1 for me today! Feeling slightly more sane having had more sleep now! Didn't expect anthing different as managed it only twice Blushthis month and no peak on cbfm!! Anyway, at least its here and we can begin again! Am keeping a stress diary now, not sure what I should be writing in it but have identified stress factors (work) (money) now beginning to think what to do about it all. So, here we go again!

Am I the only crazy one who thinks that yes, if we do downsize and begin to enjoy life properly again it might just happen!! How do you get "rid" of that feeling so you do those sorts of things for the right reasons and not because it might make what you want to happen, happen!! Am I making any sense?? Also bought loads of fresh fruit and am beginning on Choccie chips smoothie fest tomorrow!!

love and luck to all.

Tilly xxx

Have booked myself in to start a proper course of reflexology to see what I can achieve before starting IUI. My cycle was stretched by 4 days and I ovulated 2 days after the last session so gotta be worth a go!
Also start taking my cabergoline tabs today to reduce prolactin - could be my month.... Grin

chocciechip · 21/02/2011 17:52

tilly Make sure you add a handful of oats to the smoothie because fruit is lots of sugar; there's somthing about if protien is combined you digest it more slowly and therefore less fat (I think).

kc I've had 3 BFPs in my life and NONE of them happened before 15DPO no matter how sensitive the test. Also, I often had spotting just before my cycle started and I was scanned to see if the bleeding was coming from a fibroid I have. It wasn't and my lining seemed fine in spite of the spotting. The consultant told me that mid-cycle bleeding sometimes comes from the intersection between the cervix and uterous because the 'join' is fragile. Just irritation basically. It might be that with you too. But if I were you and the bleeding persists accross other cycles, I'd ask for a scan to check for fibroids etc. Congrats on the job, by the way.

storm, kitty boba We should maybe consider a CBFM graduates thread? I really miss the slow pace of this thread and feel like it moves slowly enough to properly get to know people. Would be nice to keep close tabs on PGs as they progress and still pop back here as well to keep in touch with friends. I know that it's unfair in a TTC forum to talk Pgs all the time (god knows I left enough of them for that reason), but I have so many questions for you all all the time. Thinking of you boba and kitty on Wednesday. Can't believe you're 12 weeks already boba!

keziah Hope things are going well with you. Your parcel will be posted tomorrow. Sorry I haven't done it yet but we had a hectic week last week and it totally slipped my mind. I also was told to drink protein shakes - mostly because I am veggie and was very 'under the weather'. I bought the vanilla flavour. Ugh, it tasted revolting. I managed to add a few scoops to my smoothies for a few days then gave it up and still have a mahoosive tub sitting in the kitchen.

clock I missed your news. Congratulations!

amuminwaiting I would guess (!) you haven't ovulated yet. Unfortunately the CBFM is only geared up to manage one attempt a month, which for most people is probably fine. But what sometimes happen is your body gears up to ovulate but doesn't actually do it, and tries again later. Stress, illness etc can throw things off course. Charting helps in occasions like this. Do you POAS at the same time every day?

As for me, we had another scan last week and I'm really pleased to say chocciebean still has a beating heart which makes me about 9+2. The downside though, is that I was held back to speak to a consultant because my *&^%$£ fibroid appears to be growing as fast as the bean, so is now three times the size of the bean (because it was obviously bigger at the outset). I've been told it feeds off PG hormones and I've been warned I might experience pain and bleeding in PG, and that I will need to be monitored more closely after 20 weeks. Freaks me out - I don;t know how big it might end up! Fibroids like mine can apparently be terrible for mum and baby at delivery time, so I have to get my head around the possibility of having to have a ceasarian and being spooked by pain and bleeding down the line through the PG. DH is 'we'll do what we need to when we get there' - and of course we will - but the prospect of being in an NHS hospital for longer than necessary scares the hell out of me - and SURGERY. Oh man!! So I've been very pre-occupied and dreaming about it for nights now. Wish the worrying could come to an end.

Loup23 · 21/02/2011 17:54

sorry to hear AF got you SBC really hope this month is your month. Let us know how reflexology goes - i may give it a go too if dreaded AF arrives this month...

KnackeredCow · 21/02/2011 18:55

Choccie Thanks for that info. That's really useful. I think it may simply be irritation with me. I did have an HSG this month, so perhaps the catheter irritated the cervix when it was passed. Scan didn't show any fibroids fortunately, so no concerns there.

So pleased to hear that chocciebean is doing well. Choccie Please try not to worry too much about being in an NHS hospital. There is some excellent care available from extremely committed staff. I worked in Medical Sales and Marketing for years, and I've spent a lot of time in both NHS and private hospitals. NHS hospitals might not look as nice round the edges, the food may well be crap and you might not get a private room, nor your choice of menu, but when the shit hits the fan, I know where I would rather be (with the NHS). Private hospitals do not run on the number of qualified staff that NHS hospitals do. Remember that most Consultants working in the private sector do it in addition to NHS work (if they are any good). The NHS gives the opportunity to medics to become involved in research as the teaching hospitals are affiliated to universities, and those that want to progress there careers (not just for money) are very loyal to it. I know of a few excellent surgeons who will not do private work because they are completely committed to the NHS.

I don't mean to cause anybody any offence, but the NHS gets a real bashing and the care is often better than in the private sector in this country. When I worked for my previous employer, the private sector always seemed to buy cheaper lower quality products, the NHS always paid more for the evidence-based products. At the end of the day, private hospitals are there to make a profit, and if cutting costs elsewhere allows them to do that, they will.

Please try not to worry about going into an NHS hospital for a C-Section if that's where you will need to be.

StormBird · 21/02/2011 19:46

Evening All,

Choccie so pleased to hear your scan went well...well apart from the fibroid but at least they have identified it and given you the heads up and are willing to keep a very close eye on you. I'm sure all will be fine just try not to worry yourself too much about it (easier said than done I know)!!

I totally agree with setting up a CBFM Graduates thread. I do feel kind of self conscious posting on here sometimes - only as I wouldn't want to upset anyone. I remember how tough TTC is......trust me!

KC I totally agree with your outlook on the NHS - I've been in private hospitals for different reasons and also worked in them but have never had better care than when I've been in an NHS Hospital. I'm with Epsom and St Helier at the moment and they have been utterly fantastic!

Tilly you are not crazy at all....the best way I can describe TTC is as an absolute mind F**k - sorry for the language! How you are feeling and thinking at the mo I can bet has crossed each and every persons mind on this thread at one point or another and if it hasn't already it will!!! So you are making perfect sense. The problem is no one knows the answers Sad . Good luck with your journey and the Smoothies Wink
