Hi

My Dsis is on her third IVF cycle. She had egg collection two weeks ago today, with two perfect blasts transfered on sunday 14th Nov. The clinic said to test next sunday, but she did three early response tests this morning and was devastated they were all negative.

I told her to calm down and it doesn't mean she isn't pregnant but I'm worried...

Talk to me please

She is testing too early to be certain.

Your poor sis Sad I agree with cupofcoffee - she is testing too early, and torturing herself. She needs to stop testing and wait till sunday. I do feel for her though.

Theantsgomarching · 23/11/2010 17:38

Thats what I've told her. This is torture. If it doesn't work this time I don't know what she'll do.

Is this going to be her last cycle? I am so sorry, it must be awful to have so much riding on it working.

Can she distract herself this week, any hobbies she particularly likes that could take her mind off the waiting (sorry if that seems really glib advice, but don't know what else to suggest)

Theantsgomarching · 23/11/2010 18:26

Thanks GDYWF - no I think she'll keep going...they've already spent e16,000.

It's just how much more can she take emotionally as well as financially etc..

Oh no I am so sorry Sad

That's very sad news.

Theantsgomarching · 24/11/2010 13:51

Thanks. She is in an awful state

Poor thing. Do you think she ought to have some counselling or something, just seems like awful mental torture to go through without any kind of psychological support.

Theantsgomarching · 24/11/2010 14:26

I am going to suggest that, but I think her frame of mind will be that she is 'wasting' money that could be used on IVF..

She is in Ireland and you get nothing for nothing there..

"wasting money that could be used on IVF" Sad Sad Sad

What does her DH think in all this, do you think he would support her to do counselling?

Sorry I am ignorant about Ireland, is there no NHS, or NHS-type arrangement?

Theantsgomarching · 24/11/2010 17:57

No, nothing.

There's no point in even trying to talk to her at the moment. I'll give it a few weeks and then try and sit her down for a good chat. Poor girl is only 26, babies should be jumping out of her!
