I took a preg test on Monday, which showed a faint line.

On Weds I had bloods taken which showed HCG of 29 and Progesterone of 45.

Have had more bloods taken this morning and am waiting til this afternoon for the results. Have been warned that the levels of HCG are so low that it probably is not a viable pregnancy.

However they did tell me that the progesterone was quite high.

Confused!!

I think rather than the absolute levels it is the doubling rate that is the important thing. So if your bloods today show that hcg had doubled since your last test that would be a good sign. Hope that helps. And good luck.

Hello,

sorry you are going through this, it must be very worrying.

I second what LadyG says, you can only tell a viable pregnancy from blood tests if the rate of HCG doubles in the early weeks of pregnancy.

A level of 29 could be normal if you are in the very early stages, but a second test done 48 hours later should show double this amount if all is well.

Here is a chart showing HCG levels by pregnancy weeks. Do you know your dates?

Hope things work out for you,
let us know how you get on xxx
