Thanks Strawberry. Good luck with your 2ww then :)

nannyl · 03/01/2011 09:44

Good morning all
bebe really hope you DH has a good day soon

strawberrypie good luck for your 2 week wait. Mine was less than 2 weeks as i tested super super early, and although i did not get a BFP I did not get a BFN either as there was that most tiniest possible hint of where a line should be!

Well we are telling our family now, cause we were down south with mine and are now back here, wanted to tell them at the same-ish time.
My Mum "jumped up and down and waved her arms in the air shouting yes"! (she knw we were trying)
My dad "Oh dear, how do you know" He has had a stroke is confused, and didnt really understand but is actually very happy about it.
My grandparents, "thats quick" very happy
My sister: SO surprised and happy then thinks she needs to change her holiday plans as was planning on being in Canada for 3 weeks over my due date
OH's Mum "really, and started crying" So So So happy... already planning which spare room will be be babies, and what toys to buy etc
OH's grandma "so are you getting married (no), was it planned?" when answered yes was very happy for us too
Today we need to tell
OH' Dad, Ohs sis and bro in law, and bro and sis in law.

We are leaving it at that now (oh and 2 of my best friends i told when i thought i was pg, also happy for us!)

Tomorrow need to call drs surgary and book in with midwife!

Already feeling pg. Feeling a bit sick all the time, but making myself eat!
Have had 2 'uncomfy' nights sleep, and already need to wee more Sad
Really hoping my days of sound sleep are not over yet Shock!

Have got an excel spread sheet going of the millions of things we need to buy! Ots growing and growing!

Quodlibet · 03/01/2011 10:11

Hello all - I am finally back from our very lovely holiday (did you all miss me?) and have just managed to catch up with all the news...Hope everyone had a really lovely xmas and NY.

So congratulations WYorks, 100 and Nannyl - blimey, I've only been away a month and there's 3 upduffings! If we carry on at this rate, by my calculation that'll be all of us done and dusted by March. How wonderful for all of you, sending you all best wishes.

AC commiserations on the job front but how exciting that you're going to get started on the TTC...what do you think finally turned the DH around? (PS I love the idea of wrapping your DH's zinc pills in a bit of meat, that's what we used to have to do with our dog!)

Welcome to the newbies...

In my news: great holiday, missed all the snow thank god but did witness some of the freakish Australian weather instead. Did lots of talking with DP about the TTC issue. We got some really really good work-related news (for him) while we were away but the downside of it is that his current project won't complete until at least Oct/Nov 2011 - nearly a year later than he was anticipating when we first started talking about TTC and (I at least) started making a kind of mental time-table. Since he is insisting we can't start until the work thing has happened, his work news has huge knock-on effects for me and us which we've spent a lot of time talking about but still haven't resolved at all - the fact that all my and our joint plans have to be index-linked to his work has actually really upset me as it's not what I feel I signed up for! Suffice to say I don't think we'll be TTCing any time soon, unfortunately. One upshot of the long discussions is that he now knows about my MN support group, which is actually a good thing I think as I've been furtively closing windows for too long now! Now just got to hope he doesn't get too curious and start having a snoop (does anyone else worry about that?) as it's nice to have a private place to talk about these things - I've missed all your support whilst I've been away.

In other news one of my best friends is pregnant which is brilliant news, and has the added benefit that her DH is now enthusiastically trying to convert mine to the idea.

Right - I've got lots of NY resolutions to go and complete as well as a lot of work (on a bank hol!) What are people's resolutions? One of mine is a new recipe every week (DP and I are going to take turns to cook it) - bebe I may be looking your way for inspiration before too long.

bebejones · 03/01/2011 11:33

Quod - So sorry to hear that you have had to postpone TTC. I feel the same about DHs work life dictating our family life. It's so hard to feel that something you have no say in/control over is running your life! (Or at least, that's how I feel) Very Envy of your holiday, I/We need a break & I'd love to go to Australia!

I also vowed to try one new recipe a week. Although have gained a few lbs over Xmas so will need to wait until I've shifted those (back on soups & ryvita for now Wink)

Nannyl - As always your organisation puts us all to shame! Wink

Still not had the chance to talk to DH. Feeling a bit rubbish about it all. I think he knows I want to say something & is avoiding me! Hmm

MrsSatsuma · 03/01/2011 16:44

Bebe, Christmas is for gaining pounds! I purposely don't go on the scales until at least February :D

Quod - sorry it's not working your way at the moment :S However, your friend's DH speaking to him sounds positive - my DH was far easier to get off the fence once one of his friends became a dad in the summer!

Loved reading your family's reactions nannyl; can't wait until it's my turn to tell mine :) (when I've actually got something to tell them)

Back to the grindstone... I hate the last couple of days of the holiday, I always get in a stress about having to plan the whole of next half term's work! Am fed up of schemes of work!!

squirrel007 · 03/01/2011 17:54

Hi everyone :)

nannyl glad you got a clearer test! Bet you were excited to tell everyone too.

AC it's good to hear that your DH is properly on board now, even if it means a short delay.

bebe interesting about the cot conversation, so I hope it leads somewhere with your DH.

100years sorry you're feeling sick already :( Mine didn't kick in till around 6 weeks, but it's a horrible feeling. I have snacks by my bed now to stave off sickness!

astrazola sorry you've been ill, but hope you've got rid of it now :) I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your friend.

strawberrypie am keeping my fingers crossed for you too! 11th is just a few days away :)

quod congrats to your DH on the good work news, but sorry that it is affecting your ttc plans :( I can see why you're upset about him linking plans to his work - are you hoping to change his mind?

I am not really looking forward to going back to work tomorrow! I'm putting off ironing all my work clothes because that'll feel like the end of the holidays!

On the plus side, am just making carrot and coriander soup, and the house smells yummy :)

bebejones · 03/01/2011 17:55

I was really looking forward to DDs groups/classes starting this week. But her music class has been cancelled & I can't take her to toddler group later in the week coz I'm going to my mums. It's the first time I have ever left her overnight! Confused Hope she won't be too 'difficult' for DH! Hmm

It's been snowing on & off here all day! Hmm Been to ILs for FILs birthday & eaten too much & have that horrid uncomfortable feeling! DHs poorly little nephew was there & he is looking so much better & was smiling & laughing & can now hear loud sounds without his hearing aids in! Just adorable to see! :) Really melted DH, and he was all gooey & soppy over him, so tonight might be a good time to strike up a conversation...watch this space!

MrsS - It'll be half term before you know it! Hang in there! Wink

AstroZola · 03/01/2011 19:05

Hey,

Thank you all for all the well wishes!

I and my DP had a baby conversation last night whilst i was in the bath!! Blush

He brought it up!! ha ha. He says he's coming round to the idea and thinks it'll be a 'yes' but we've agreed for a definite answer around June (so i can start planning) if he doesn't come up with one sooner!! :o)

I'm trying not to get my hopes up just yet though!

Nannyl - reading all those expressions sounds amazing. I can't wait for that to be me!! Smile

Bebe - i feel for you...having to wait, it does seem unfair that you're taking control of everything at the moment though...maybe you can corner him into a conversation with a lovely meal as bribery to sit down with you? Put DD to bed?? xxx

My New Yrs resolutions are to exercise more and eat healthier...which is pretty standard for a lot of people i guess, but i want to at least be baby ready as well as bettering myself! I've also started a journal to help alleviate everything i deal with in the day time in order to make me feel a little better about things and sleep better...here's hoping! I also want to be better with money, & get some savings together.

xxx

MrsSatsuma · 03/01/2011 20:45

I have two new year's resolutions - actually do my physio exercises (boring but I need them or my back hurts!) and be less stressed about work. As in actually not think about it. Managed quite successfully this holiday - just got to extend that into term time!

AmandaCooper · 03/01/2011 23:39

Astrozola being baby ready is now our goal! DH has had no cigarettes today and has taken his zinc supplement! We have both had fresh fruit and plenty of water and I've had my folic acid.

Last night DH instigated a conversation with my mum about possible childcare arrangements. It turns out she and my dad are looking forward to being very hands on and doing lots of babysitting! My mum said she would come over twice a week to look after LO while we're at work!

We're now planning to have the same conversation with DMIL. Hope she'll want to do two days as well!

nannyl · 04/01/2011 08:36

wow AC thats great progress then. looks like you are well and truley on the home straight to trying, and of course its best for baby if you have taken folic acid for a while before geting pg Smile

Satsuma good luck with your new years resolutions

Astrozola looks like +ve news for you too... I LOVE talking in the bath... either on phone or i get OH to come in and chat with me!

bebe so sorry to hear your classes have been cancelled. I remember when nannying i git through the week with classes and seeing all our friends / routine etc, and weeks where we had no classes used to drag so much.
We too have woken up to snow, but thankfully only a little bit

Well yesturday morning OH woke up and suggested we went to mothercare... so we did Grin
It was lovely and i got to see a new phil and teds explorer (which is on my short list)
Also told OHs Dad, sister, brother and their partners.
Everyone was surprised but really really happy! Grin

Also spoke to my pg friends (the ones i was bridesmaid for) and am VERY enviouse that (after talking to me) they have found an immaculate mountain buggy on ebay really close to them, with all the extras and maxi cosi clips, my ideal dream buggy, but all that is almost £800 new, and they have got an immaculate hardly used one for just a couple of hundred on ebay! Envy

bebejones · 04/01/2011 10:28

How exciting Nannyl! Did you buy anything? We have kept our old travel system (which I really hate) but it does a job I guess! DH was the one who insisted on keeping it! I'm still hoping that if I get PG DH might let me but the one I want! :o Glad everyone is really pleased & excited for you! Have you spoken to GPs yet?

Tried to start up a conversation with DH last night, he somehow managed to change the subject & was in a complete grump because he was going back to work today! Hmm Last ditch attempt tonight. Planning needs to happen...soon! He has said (and I quote) 'Last year was about survival, this year is growth'! I think he was talking about work, but I suppose it can be applied to home life too! Hmm

OP posts:
nannyl · 04/01/2011 10:47

hello bebe
agree, that sounds like a good principle for your family too Smile

Its must be nearly time to SWI for you know i guess? Perhaps you could "see what happens" Wink

no we didnt buy anything, but didnt plan to either. we went to browse Smile

just been to my bargain charity shop and got a beautiful immaculate baby gym with playmat underneath a bit like this but ELC own. It was £1 (so quite expensive for that shop lol)
Its really lovely,(has an abc design) but i probably want a tiny love one, but it would still be fine to keep at one of the grandparents houses!

Yes we have told all our grandparents, all are happy!

Booked a midwife appt for next Friday as well so looking forward to that!

WYorksLass · 04/01/2011 10:54

Wow, i don't come on here for a week and when i do there are 2 BFP's!!!!

Huge congratulations to 100years and nannyl. I am so pleased for you :-)

Well, i am now 6 weeks pregnant and really feeling it! The slight queasyness has been replaced by full on morning sickness. I haven't actually been sick but constantly feel i will be :-(
Also as of the weekend i can no longer drink any hot drinks without getting heartburn, especially tea. I feel sad about that as until then i had been drinking gallons of the (decaff) stuff. I also appear to have gone off chocolate as well which is a huge shock as i was a bit of an addict!
Most of last week was spent either in bed or lounging around watching tv, it was rather nice really, apart from the feeling rough bit.
I have made it in to work today (10 mins late, ooops!) with the help of copious amounts of ginger nuts, thay are my new best friend :-)

We told our parents and siblings over christmas, they are all over the moon Grin

Anyway, enough from me. Happy New Year all.

bebejones · 04/01/2011 11:03

Wow that's quite soon! We don't get to see a MW round here until 10 weeks!

That Baby Gym is similar to ours, but ours in an elc one too! It was perfect really coz DD didn't really use it for that long. Quite liked the ikea one as well & would have probably got that next time to have at my mums, but they have stopped doing it! Angry Wink

Just doing a mental totting up of what we have & it's quite alot.
Cot - check
Changing unit/nursery furniture - check
Travel system - check
Moses basket/stand - check
Sleeping bags - check
bumbo/tray - check
Rocker - check
Play mat/gym - check
Steriliser - check
Breast pump - check
10 tonne of baby clothes (pink & neutral) - check

Sure there is more, but I think we are covered for basics. definitely weight to my argument! :o

WYorks - I xposted with you! Sorry the sickness has got you! Try Nairns Ginger biscuits instead of ginger nuts, they have oats in so give you energy for longer (low GI), I loved them when I got over the worst of my sickness!

OP posts:
WYorksLass · 04/01/2011 11:16

Thanks bebe, i'll look out for them.

JustShaggingForNow · 04/01/2011 13:37

Wow! so much exciting news over the festive break! Not had chance to read it all but will try and catch up.

Congrats to all on the BFPs. AC well done on persuading your DH :) Bebe I hope that you find time to chat to yours and that the year of growth applies to your family as well as his work. Will be keeping everything crossed for you all!

I desperately wanted to get online but our broadband is playing silly buggers and every time I had a moment to myself to get online it decided not to connect. Very frustrating indeed.... Angry

Had a LOVELY xmas with my family and then a really fun NYE making new friends. DH and I also had a lot of time together to talk about things. Proved to be quite a rollercoaster ride though!

28th December - we were on our way to Cabot Circus (I know I know, insane but I needed to change the size of a Christmas pressie and they were selling like hot cakes across the country!!!) and started talking about our planned India trip and TTC. DH said he had absolutely no reccollection of agreeing to TTC in June and then said that we would have to wait until we were back from our trip in November before we could start. The phrases "not sure if I'll ever be ready" and "I feel like this is taking over our lives" and "I don't want to be bullied into this" were all used. Cue me spending the rest of the day not saying a huge amount and secretly seething!!!

29th December - DH suggests we go to India in April instead of October......... We've almost sorted the entire trip and will be booking it this week. I've not brought up the TTC thing since but his idea for when we were due to be going in October was to start trying on holiday and so I am going to assume that is still the case and not mention it again..... I will be ovulating on holiday so we will have to keep everything crossed on that front :)

We also had a good talk about how we would manage on one salary (especially if DH takes a job offer in Bristol which would a bit less money but not by much when we let out the London flat) and although it would mean me having to go back to work he is pretty sure that we could manage. He is due to get a fairly significant bonus form his current job (higher that the figure that he initiall said he wanted in savings before TTC) in March and so it is all looking pretty positive. Hurrah!!!

Resolutions for me are:

  1. drink less Blush
  2. eat healthier
  3. exercise more
  4. have more sex!!!Blush
100years · 04/01/2011 13:39

Nannyl, some lovely reactions there :) I've not even thought of things we need to buy. A cot has been discussed, as in where will it go in the bedroom, but nothing else. Although we have cleared out a load of junk from the spare run. Mothercare, eel, I cried when my OH mentioned little dot and said it's a long way off yet.

Quod, welcome back, of course we missed you. Much thanks, :) Sorry you seem to have longer to wait, hopefully he may offer up an earlier suggestion in order to be trying and then baby won't arrive till after the project has finished?

Squirrel, some nights I'm alright in bed, last night however I woke at about 3am feeling sick, wasn't sick though, I do have some biscuits which I had put by my bed, ate them one night and haven't yet replaced them!

bebe.. how is it going?

Astro :) Yay for a date for you to start trying.

AC, wow, re the family arrangements already, I've got no one nearby to do that, parents are over an hour away for us, so not really easy for us.

Wyorks, 5 weeks today for me. Yep I'm feeling it too most of the time! Started with the ice sick feeling very early, hormones must be raging in me. Thanks though :)

Off to the docs this afternoon at 3:15, got all butterflies in my tummy about going there! Stoopid girl. Hoping she says congrats, as I couldn't get in with the really lovely doctor, so I'm going to write a little card and leave it for her.

100years · 04/01/2011 13:41

JustShagging, sorry Crossed post. Sorry your DH went all "I didn't say that" on you. I hope if you move your hol it will bring it forward.

JustShaggingForNow · 04/01/2011 14:12

Lots to catch up on after one day away! I will respond - but -

THERE IS A MOUSE IN MY KITCHEN!!!!

Eek. Have rung council who will do first treatment free and can be here in a COUPLE OF DAYS! Rang DH and asked him to come home from work (this isn't as bad as it sounds, he is a teacher too and directed time finished at 3pm) to investigate before I confirm with council. I am 99% sure it is a mouse - prolonged rustling of bin bag, like it's being eaten, too loud to be a spider. I was nowhere near it and no windows open to create breeze that could have made the noise.

DH asked if I had looked for it to check it was a mouse. Of course I flipping haven't!!!!!!!!

Starving too as had no lunch yet and now can't go in kitchen. This is not a good start to the term.

bebejones · 04/01/2011 15:47

Eeeek! People will probably say 'get a cat' but in my experience they just end up bringing more stuff in!! Maybe you could borrow one! Hmm Hope you find it & get it sorted soon!
