AmandaCooper · 01/01/2011 10:52

Yaaaaaaay!!!! Yipeeeeeee!!! Wooooo hoooo! Congratulations Nannyl and happy new year everyone!!!!

Wonderful news here as well. DH and I had a proper conversation about ttc and DH was really sincere and enthusiastic about it and excited - but he wants to really get on board and do it properly and take the zinc tablets and stop smoking and cut down alcohol for three months beforehand. I am really pleased and if he's as good as his word, more than happy to wait that short amount of additional time.

nannyl · 01/01/2011 11:04

thanks so much

and congratulations to you too AC! Now that is progress Smile
when do you plan to start trying? March / April i guess?

bebejones · 01/01/2011 11:04

Nannyl - :o Congratulations! Lucky train strikes again! So what is your EDD?

AC - That is really good news! Fingers crossed for you for March then?! :)

Got to pack DDs cot away today, she was quite good, stayed in her bed all night but did take over an hour to settle. Hoping that the act of packing it up & where to put it will spark the conversation of TTC. Although because of DHs work crisis of the past few days, prospects in the bebe household are not good! :(

sorry to here you are still having a tough time bebe Sad

my EDD will be 13th September (my birthday) although as i ovulate of day 15, not 14, probably 14th September! Smile

AmandaCooper · 01/01/2011 11:20

Yes it is the best thing ever to have him on board, instead of reluctantly going along with it. It's really, really lovely. He's still saying the same things this morning (phew!) and so far hasn't smoked.

I think a visit to my godson yesterday helped focus his mind, when he saw how bright and funny and charming his child could be. They sat playing together on the floor with Benji's Noah's Ark, and DH was chatting away to him very naturally. My friend and I hid in the kitchen giggling.

Bebe I am sorry to be full of good news when you are sad that you are packing away DD's baby things. Things can change and they will change and get better. This is an exciting new year for all of us.

It's difficult to watch everyone else on the thread start ttc and so many BFPs as well. I feel particularly bad for those who didn't get their BFP first time on a thread where amazingly so many have - and worry that it could take me a while too. But I heard that of the 30 or so people who were on the September bus there were only a couple of BFPs, so I keep reminding myself that trying for a few months would be perfectly normal.

100years · 01/01/2011 12:37

Well, happy new year everyone :) Hope you all had a good one, whatever you were doing. I was taking 999 calls from mostly shouty people last night, with the odd person who was normal, but it went quickly.

AC great news about your DH being 'properly' on board :) Yay.

squirrel thanks. I am feeling sick, had a few times of having to rush out from work to 'fake puke' ie retching, and am finding it hard to sleep more than a few hours because I keep waking and feeling sick! But it's all for a good reason. And glad you are starting to decorate :)

bebe fingers crossed specially for you.

nannyl YAY Congrats :) Woohoo :)

100years · 01/01/2011 12:39

Oh and possibly TMI here, but I have been too scared to have sex with OH since finding out, but we did this morning! It was lovely, but slightly scary. I take it nerves over sex is pretty normal.

bebejones · 01/01/2011 15:47

100 - I think I can count on one hand the number of times DH were in any way intimate when I was PG. I was just too ill to start with & then by the time I was feeling 'better' I was getting a bit big to do anything comfortably! Blush I think the nerves are completely normal. I was also so petrified of doing it incase it hurt the little bean...and yes, I know that that is bonkers!

DH has just cleaned the washing machine filter! :) My moaning about it finally worked! (I couldn't do it coz I couldn't pull it out to turn it off at the wall!)

Have done some design work for DH this morning, not that I will ever get paid for it! Hmm We had a brief discussion about the cot which went something like this...

Me: So what are we going to do with this
then?
DH: Well I haven't found a home for it yet!
Me: So we are keeping it then?
DH: We would be mad not to, wouldn't we?
Me:
DH: Do you not think? I don't think we should throw it out! We'll sort it tomorrow.

And that was that! I am holding on to the chink of light from that conversation with every ounce of strength!!

AC - Meant to say, still very excited for you...this is a huge step forward isn't it? You must be really excited! :)

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 01/01/2011 16:58

Bebe that sounds promising that he wants to hang on to the cot!

bebejones · 01/01/2011 17:39

If you knew him it is a very good sign! I am the horder of the house! :o

He won't let me get rid of the moses basket (discussed this also today whilst trying to find room for stuff) or DDs Rocker/Bumbo/Walker/Door Bouncer! Hmm The only question I have is...How long is he expecting us to hang on to it all for? Hmm

AstroZola · 01/01/2011 21:20

Hello everyone,
I've been MIA due to the full-on plague that I have had for the last 2 weeks and I'm still carrying. It has pretty much made my Xmas and New Year suck and be nothing special.

100years - that is such amazing, great news...CONGRATULATIONS...I'm so pleased for you!!

Happy New Year one and all as well...I had some great news yesterday though...my best friend told me she was pregnant...it's only a couple of weeks, if that...and we're very excited...although we know to be wary because she has suffered 4 miscarriages since her first child who is now 7!! I'm so pleased for her and can't wait to enjoy the ride with her! I just hope it sticks and all goes well for her for a change. She really deserves something special and this is her biggest wish - to have another child!! And 2010 has sucked for her so all think happy, healthy thoughts for her please!! Thanks! Blush

My other friend has also told me that she and her DH have agreed to start trying come this summer...if all goes to plan and I get my go ahead we could be popping them out at a similar time...which would be lovely for us both to go through our first together!! I'm terrified.....

On the note of being ill - how on EARTH would i cope with a child whilst being as ill as i have been over the last 2 weeks??? I've not been this ill for about 8 years...and don't want it ever again!

Sorry for the HUGE post! x

MrsSatsuma · 01/01/2011 23:37

Nice to see you back, astro! Sorry you've been ill but glad you're better. I also found out from a friend in RL yesterday that she'd had a mc, and just days before her 12 week scan. Felt so sorry for her but glad she is trying again, and also because we now both have someone to talk babies with!

I'm now officially on cycle #2, having been visited by unfriendly AF on 29th. I got exceptionally grumpy and weepy, partly because I naively thought it would happen easily, and partly because I have discovered that I do in fact get PMT when off the pill (I didn't really have it when I took the pill!). This, coupled with 4 days with the in-laws and 18 other members of DH's family, did not put me in the best of moods and it's fair to say the last few days of the hold have been fairly rubbish!! Back to school on Tue so got shedloads of work to do between now and then too :( but at least I'm home and it's just me and DH again.

nannyl - huge congratulations! Have been catching up on the thread for last ten mins or so and found myself willing the line to appear and was very happy for you when it did! I'm staying on this thread as it seems like a lucky one...

MrsSatsuma · 01/01/2011 23:37

hold? Meant to say hols! Doh...

100years · 02/01/2011 02:48

bebe sounds promising re the cot situation :)

whyWait Thank you :) Hopefully you will have some of the train's luck :)

astro thank you as well :) Sorry to hear you have not been well. Hope your friend's little dot sticks.

MrsS :( sorry the evil AF got you.

bebejones · 02/01/2011 10:13

Astro - Sorry you have been so poorly :( It's miserable being ill over Christmas, maybe you could 'do' Christmas in a couple of weeks when you feel more yourself? Having been poorly & had a small child to look after, you just sort of get on with it! Plus they don't judge you if you don't get washed/dressed/lie on sofa with a duvet all day! Wink It's much easier when they are tiny...they stay in one place!
Sending sticky bean thoughts for your friend! :)

Satsuma - Me too, I was 'visited' on the 29th! Fingers crossed for you this cycle.

I'm really hoping I can convince DH, I'd love an October baby, promise I shall make an attempt at talking to him today...when he eventually drags his lazy backside out of bed!! I haven't had a single lie in the whole time he has been off. Not fair!! :(

Hi everyone! I am back from skiing and soooooo happy to hear the news from 100years and nannyl!!!!!!

Congratulations!!!!!

Also great news AC about your OH seeing the light! Woo-hoo!

Fingers crossed for you too bebe- I think your situation sounds very hopeful after the cot conversation!

TMI coming up alert- I had EWCM whilst on hols and lots of SWI was achieved Blush My CD 26 (luckiest day to test according to you lot!) will be Jan 11th. I am nervous already! Gulp.

bebejones · 02/01/2011 18:38

Oooh how exciting Strawberry! Fingers crossed for you now too! Jan 11th will be here before you know it! Wink

Haven't managed to talk sensibly to DH yet, DD has been a handful all day. He is suffering with man flu & been in a foul mood about money/work today too! Hmm
