Could I be? Are Tesco HPT any good?

I know nobody knows the answers but just wanted to tell someone what is going on.

I have had irregular periods (21-25 days) since coming off the pill a year ago. The last few cycles have been 21 days. We're not actually TTC but I am hoping to get pg, which DH knows.

I'm now on day 28. Around day 21 I had awful tummy cramps and lower backache which convinced me AF was about to start. It was so bad I had to take painkillers. But AF didn't arrive. Slight spotting yesterday. Nothing today. POAS first thing (Tesco) and it was negative.

What could be happening?
I know I need to wait and test again in a few days maybe, just wondered what you all think.

You could be. When I got pregnant with DD I had very bad cramping pains in the middle of the night about the time AF was due. I was SO convinced AF was about to start I got up and put a pad on, and took paracetamol.

In the morning I was very confused when there was no AF! I think it can be implantation pains, and sometimes they can be quite strong!

However, it's strange the pregnancy test was negative. If you did it with first morning urine, it should have shown you a positive.

Unless, perhaps with your slightly irregular cycle you ov'd later than expected this month, and perhaps AF not due for another couple of days? In which case you could still be pregnant and not yet show on HPT, or you could just be a few days off from AF.

You're right you're just going to have to wait and do another test in a few days.

Good luck!

Hi GDYWFall.
Yeah, I used a pad too because I was so convinced AF was on her way!
The next few days are going to draaaaaaag Grin

I'm obsessively symptom spotting. I haven't got any other symptoms really so I'm not getting my hopes up. Well I'm trying not to.

Some people have symptoms early on, but TBH it's perfectly normal to not have any symptoms at all this early on.

I seem to remember the nausea really kicked in a good week or so after AF was due. I do remember having sore boobs quite early on though.

Hmmm....maybe then.

Do you think it's worth testing again with a clearblue or a first response? Are the Tesco tests any good d'ya reckon? Or should I just wait a few days first?

I know the answer really Grin

The tesco tests are FINE Grin They all test the same thing, it's just the fancy packagaing you are paying for!

Wait a few more days! Grin

last time the first test i used was a tesco one. i saw a really feint positive line; i was a bit sceptical so confirmed it with a clearblue digital.

good luck - im in the 2ww also! Wink

LittleYellowTeapot · 17/11/2010 21:35

Ahhhh...well for me there was no line at all, faint or otherwise....no matter which way I tilted it.

Still no AF though.

Doesn't the 2WW draaaaag Ilovekittyelise? Grin

Good luck though - hope you get your BFP Smile

Was at work earlier, convinced AF had arrived, but no.

I'll try and wait until after the weekend and POAS again.

Any news for you Ilovekittyelise?

I had some pink spotting last night (assumed it was the start of AF) but it's gone again. I never normally get spotting. No other symptoms.

I really don't know what's going on with me this month. I'm going to buy a first response later and do it maybe Sunday.

I'm in a similar situation. Had cramps last thursday which could have been implantation pains. Was due on Tuesday still no AF. All tests BFN - tesco and first response. I know I ovulated on the 2nd or 3rd so AF should have come by now! Just waiting and waiting and waiting
