conceving after mirena coil removal

Hi,
I had my mirena coil out 3 months ago, TTC from last month, I ovulated on the 16th-17th day of my last cycle, (now saying this cos I observed unbroken strand of clear vag.mucus) I also experienced constant dull pain in my lower abdomen (almost like period pain) few days before my period was due. But my period was a week late this time.
My GP didn't explain much in detail, all she told me was fertility returns to normal within a week after mirena removal.. Is there anyone who could share their experience......

Hi jollyjollymum :) I had my mirena coil taken out on 5th October. We started ttc straight away, and I got a BFP last week (exactly 4 weeks after I had it taken out). So I think your GP is right that fertility returns straight away, and all my google searching backed this up too. Have you done a test if you're a week late? Hope you get the result you want.

Hi jolly. I had my mirena removed in january. I found that though my fertility was fine (in that I was ovulating) it did take a few months for my cycle to settle down to a regular pattern. From what I have read on these boards this seems pretty normal.

I had mine removed in June. I thought I was having a "normal" cycle, but couldn't really remember what one of those was tbh!!

However, last month seemed a lot better and my af was so horribly heavy. Just seemed more normal. I'm not sure that even makes sense!!!

Anyway, I'm 40, and we're on our 6th cycle of trying now so I have a docs appointment booked in anticipation of another BFN.

Had mine removed on Sept 16th. BFN last month and OVd earlier this week so watch this space!

I had mine out in the October, got pg in the february and ds2 was born last November.

Just had another one put in (thank god!)

Dont know anything about mucus or all that bollocks, just have sex like a normal person, that should do it Smile

Can I ask those of you who had mirena removed was it painful? I'm dreading it. Also can a gp do it as family plannng opening hours are useless!

Kaloki · 15/11/2010 00:38

It was less painful than having it put in!

onadietcokebreak · 15/11/2010 00:50

Oh thank god! Bit scared

jollyjollymom · 15/11/2010 13:51

it wasn't really painful, some discomfort, GPs can do it provided that the strings are visible, but in my case they weren't, so I had to wait for obstetrician's appointment....
