Negative HPT but strange boobs

Hi, I'm new to Mumsnet but have hovered around the conception boards since I started TTC#1 8 months ago and have found it really helpful and hope that someone might be able to offer me some advice.

This month I haven't really been hellbent on conceiving because I felt like I wanted a break from constant obsessing so was surprised when from CD23 I started to get intense nausea, felt really tired and went off some of my favourite foods. The biggest thing though is my right boob has got really big and swollen (so big that my DH remarked it looked like a implant!). It also feels lumpy and hurts like heck. I have also had a white/opaque discharge from both nipples if the breasts are pressed. This got my hopes up that I might have been successful in conceiving this month and so yesterday CD25 did a HPT which turned out to be negative. In the evening I started to get a very small amount of dark brown/black blood in my cervical mucus but only when wiped - sorry TMI! This is continuing today and I have a mild cramps which make me think my period must be on its way.The only thing that confuses me is why I would have milky stuff coming out of my nipples? Is this a sign of pregnancy? I read that it can sometimes be a sign of high prolactin levels but I am currently seeing a fertility consultant and my bloods have been normal. Has this happened to anybody else and what was it??? Confused

The blood could have been implantation bleeding and whilst that isn't very common, it does happen.

Not sure about your boobs tho. Not heard of boob discharge being related to pregnancy in the early stages but everyone is different.

You can get crampy after you concieve so may not be your period.

You'll have to try testing again over the next few days

Good luck.

Thanks for your advice skandi1.

I had hoped that it could be an implantation bleed but AF has arrived with a vengeance. Looks like it has just been a weird cycle this month (had hoped to have got lucky and dodge my up coming H&G!). Will ask my GP about the boob thing though it's probably just another bogus pregnancy symptom that my body has decided to throw into the mix. Smile
