Forgive my ignorance.

I had Asherman?s, an operation abroad and coil and had that out and conceived the second month it was out. I?d used those OPK sticks and just shagged a lot that day and for a couple of days after. That seemed to work.

But I?m 39 and didn?t have periods for 22 months after my daughter?s birth (demand b/feeding suppressed them)

There?s lots of information out there and its rather bewildering. I don?t have all the time in the world and obviously with a past history of Asherman?s I?m keen not to leave it so to chance (was very surprised, as was my ob.gyn when I got pregnant so quickly last time)

Should I be using taking temps, checking mucus? If so, how?

I have never ever had a clue about my cycle. For years I haven?t had a period anyway so it?s hard to gauge.

Thanks.

Sorry I don't know anything about Asherman's, but yes I believe there are tips that can help you conceive more quickly

  • temp charting - definitely worth doing, a thermometer doesn't cost much and you can use Fertility Friend online free to track your temps
  • mucus - also worth charting. Fertility friend will give you lots of instructions about how to do it.

Good luck!

many thanks. Ashermans is rare, interuterine scarring from a D&C (for a miscarriage) and it basically scars up and knackers the endometrium. You get periods, but nothing comes out because it's all stuck together. It has similar issues to endo but isn't the same.

fertility friend. cheers, will look it up

I would also really recommend getting a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler - its got loads about temps, opk's mucas and more.

Also, get on Amazon and order your OPK's from there, you can get 25 for 5 pounds. I would really recommend doing two a day until you start to work out when the surge is going to be. Mine was very short and if I had followed instructions on the packet (once a day) I would have missed it.

I totally agree with GetDown Fertilityfriend is excellent. Getdown if you are on it, post a link to your chart, if otchayaniye signs up from there you both get 5 free VIP days.

otchayaniye Do you mind me asking where you had your AS op? I am sort of coming at the problem from the other end to you, I have been charting a while, noticed I am ovulating but not having periods have a checkered history with ERPC's and infections and think I may have Ashermans. I live in Costa Rica and the help I have had over here so far is not great. I am thinking about doing an HSG here to see if that gives me some answers, the other option is to pay private in England but that obviously would be very expensive. I have just joined ashermans.org but am at the start of finding out all about it really. Any advice appreciated.

Hi, sorry I already joined but can again under a new name? I'll have a go when I get home.

Mummyabroad, this is quick and I can answer more fully later but had op in Singapore.

I would recommend Ashermans.org and I would think your best bet is a US doctor. There are only 2 doctors in the UK that can perform this surgery.

On a happier note, v jealous of costa rica - i'm in russia!
