Positives on IC's but not FR - 12dpo

Hello ladies,
Ive been here before last month but it appears i have been lucky enough to get pg again. Last month i had a chemical pg but i did start testing ultra early (8dpo) and by 11 dpo it was all over.

I did a 10miu internet cheapy yesterday a few times and they all came up positive, i am 12dpo (strongest in the evening) but i also had some 20miu and they remained negative. Then today i did the 10 and 20 again and a First response and there was a very faint line on one of the 20 miu a line on the 10 but the first response was negative, i did one a few hours after that and both the 10 and the 20 miu were negative. I had almost given up hope considering im nearly 13dpo but then an hour ago i got quite a decent line on a 10 miu again (photo on profile) whats going on? Surely this close to when AF is due i should be getting a strong enough bfp to get a positive off a first response, am obviously worried that the same is happening as last month but wondered if anyone else had had this sort of thing happen so close to AF and had a happy outcome?

Also just wondering if anyone got positives off IC's but not FR's?

TIA

Good grief i am totally confused, are you saying that you have done several pregancy tests, some of which were negative and some positive?

brokeoven · 30/10/2010 21:53

oooh just looked at the pictures...they look DEFO DEFO positive to me!!!
CONGRATS GIRL!
Grin

brokeoven · 30/10/2010 21:55

you seem to be a girl in the know, so can i talk to you about this dpo buisiness please?

What does it satnd for DPO, and what is this 20miu stuff?

rosieposey · 30/10/2010 22:04

Brokeoven Grin i am an unfortunate poas addict (thats short for peeonastick.com) which is a truly excellent website and tells you all you need to know about pregnancy tests.

I use a clearblue fertility monitor, ovulation prediction tests and i also chart (take my temperature every morning to see if i have ovulated) so i am usually pretty sure of my 'dpo' which means days post ovulation. So for example i ovulated on day 20 of my cycle i am now on day 32 (long cycle this month for me) and that means i am 12 dpo. The bit in between ovulation and AF is a luetal phase and mine is usually 13 days meaning tomorrow is usually the last day before my period is due.

My post reading it back doesnt make much sense Hmm I meant i am using very sensitive tests by saying 10 miu, they pick up a pregnancy very quickly, what i was asking was if anyone had had positives on these 10 miu at 12dpo (which isnt long before your period) but negatives on First Response which is a branded but not quite as sensitive as the 10 miu's?

Sorry if i confused you :) Im just hoping this one turns out to be the one that sticks as if not it will be my third chemical pregnancy (when you lose a pg really early on and get your period a few days late) i had one last month.

Sorry again if you knew most of this - its all quite confusing at the best of times!

rosie - did the positives show well within the 10 mins after, or longer. The pics look clear, but they also look like you took the photos once the tests were dried, so could be cruel evap lines.

FR can pick up less than 10miu, and IC's are renound for giving false +'s, I am sorry but I would put more faith in the the FR. I really really hope I am proved wrong and that you get your clear bfp in the next couple of days. Do remember to come back and let us know.

skandi1 · 30/10/2010 22:40

hi rosieposey.

looks positive to me! I've not used IC tests myself (buying them would be like admitting to serious poas addiction...) so not sure what they are like in terms of evaps.

but those lines look positive to me.

not myself convinced that FR are that sensitive tbh.

when I was first pregnant with dd, i did a tesco own brand and a super strong fat line sprung up immediately. i tested (in same wee tmi) a few mins later with FR and it was a weak piddly line. which made me go out and buy a clearblue which oddly enough was, well, clear.

am 8dpo so tested today with CB and i am not sure whether it was the worlds fainest positive or an evap. but as its CB it was probably an evap.

btw implantation may not take place for 12 days after you ovulate which means your could have just happended hence faint and negative tests. some mners dont seem to get their bfp until several days after their af was due.

hope that helps.

let us know if you get your bfp.

rosieposey · 31/10/2010 07:22

Hi Galwaygirl the pic that i put up was taken within the 10 mins - also its about the 8th positive ive got from them (i dont think they can all be evaps) Ive had evaps from internet cheapies hence when i test with them i always use two incase one is dodgy.

Skandi the trouble is ive had two chemicals - one in Feb and one last month and it seems to always follow this pattern (albeit earlier) I did another two when i got up this morning and they were both negative :( thats after holding for about 9 hours so it looks like its all over for me this month.

FWIW i agree with you though Skandi some people swear by FR and some people dont, i dont know if i will use them to back up a pregnancy test again as if they are supposed to be as low as 10 miu then they didnt pick up what the super sensitive IC's did.

Just waiting for my temp to dip and AF to come now, hopefully it shouldnt take too long.

Thanks for your advice everyone :)

Oh btw Skandi hope your 'evap' turns ends up being a BFP!

rosie - Sad sorry to hear that your hopes have been dashed again.

Just wanted to say that the test looks very like the batch of dodgy IC's I had, I kept getting what looked like positives but with a less clear edge to the test line, just like the ones in your pictures (unless it is the camera of cause!). I tested with another batch (different batch number) at the same time and got clear negatives! It was a month I knew I was not pregnant.

I have been through hundreds (literally) of the IC's and normally never got an evap line, but this batch gave several with some of the lines coming up within the 10 mins. That is what made me wonder if it is possible that the chemical you said you got last month was with the same batch as this month? I have had 14 pregnancies, lost 11 of them, so I have used many many IC's, but fortunately only ever had one dodgy batch.

I hope you get your dream soon.

rosieposey · 31/10/2010 11:12

Galwaygal Its not the same batch thats how i know i am definately pg. I did another test with second morning sample about half an hour ago and dipped the 10miu and the 20miu (bought from different places and the 20miu has a line now too - i uploaded the photo just now - have a look as its quite a strong positive off the 10 and much fainter on the 20 but at least its there.

The bloody FR again didnt come up but im starting to think that my hcg must be really really low - i am glad that it showed up on the 20 this time though - if it had just been on the 10 i would have agreed that maybe this is a dodgy batch but the fact that i have a line on the 20 now too tells me that i must be.

Right that really is it testing wise for me today lol, tomorrow is when AF is due so maybe just maybe i will get a nice strong positive off the 20 miu too rather than a faint one - im not buying anymore FR, will wait until the middle of the week when i am well overdue AF and buy a CB digi probably.

rosieposey · 31/10/2010 11:47

Ps, Galwaygal sorry to hear you have had so many losses - thats harsh :(

OP posts:
Dipsy3 · 31/10/2010 12:31

Rosie: have you tried the Digi CB which just say pregnant or not pregnant? They may shed some light on the matter and resolve your conundrum?!?

skandi1 · 31/10/2010 12:40

Rosieposey,

If the 10 and 20miu ICs are positive surely thats a great sign!!

Well I have been trying out superdrug own brand (special offer on). And got a faint line this morning.

Superdrug own seem to be highly rated and not known for evaps so perhaps this really is it.

Apparently sensitive to 15miu. Perhaps they would be worth a go for you and they're on special offer (bogof).

DH could sort of see the line but is convinced that the line needs to be same colour as the control to "count".

I've showed him the box/instruction which clearly state that they don't need to be same colour and that any pink line in test window is a positive. He's still uming and ahing. Men eh.

Apparently FR state that their tests are sensitive to 25miu so perhaps thats why you're not getting a line with it. I think its a rumour that they are sensitive to 12.5miu.

I will now have to distract myself until tomorrow and test again to see whether the line is any stronger. Argh.

Good luck with your next batch of test and I really hope you get your full (extra dark pink) BFP.
xx

Dipsy3 · 31/10/2010 13:00

Skandi&Rosie: good luck FX; very excited for you. Hope you get your BFPs soon! Are the Digi ones not that sensitive then? x

skandi1 · 31/10/2010 13:32

Hi again Dipsy3,

No they are not - apparently CB digi is 50miu (according to poas.com).

I am quite excited now! Hoping for a more obvious pink line tomorrow Smile

Good luck Rosieposey, let us know the outcome of your next batch.

xx

sickoftheholidays · 31/10/2010 13:59

cb digi info on POAS.com is out of date, its been 25miu for 2 years or more now, with anecdotal examples of 15miu and even 12miu from one lady.
Honestly, I dont rate either FRER or clearblue easy, FRER gives naff lines, CBE gives skinny evaps. Superdrug is 10miu according to their leaflet in the box, and I've never had an evap on them.

rosieposey · 31/10/2010 14:39

Well i started off with a Superdrug three days ago first thing - zilch, nothing, nada. then by lunchtime i had recieved the IC's 10 and 20 miu's so tested with a 10 and got a faint line nothing on the 20.

Yesterday i was getting really decent lines on the 10 miu and today (see photos) got a line on the 20 miu too. Im due AF tomorrow so can only think if this does become a successful pg that its a v late implantation.

Tbh thats what im holding onto, if i test tommorrow and its still only showing on the 10 miu then i will consider that its probably not going in the right direction - if i get another line on the 20 miu then ill wait a couple of days and try with a CB digi.

Have to confess im not over enamoured with FRER either as if its really supposed to be that sensitive then it didnt pick up what the 10 and 20 Miu did - methinks a trip to superdrug might be in order tomorrow though.

Skandi tell your DH that the line only has to be pink - faint is fine, grey is not (having been the victim of some shitty evaps before now) so a faint pink line is a good sign. How many dpo are you? Will keep everything crossed that it turns out to be a succsessful pg for you :)

TotorosOcarina · 31/10/2010 14:50

I'd try to leave it till tuesday morning rosie and use a test you will 'believe' the result from. Maybe one of the bogof superdrug ones.

Not that I can talk, I'm a POAS addict too... i OV'd and implanted realllly late this pregnancy - i still can't work out my dates! I got put back from 13 weeks to 10+4 at my scan and i don't even know how i concieved Confused

what I'm trying to say is, our bodies do odd things, and if you are PG it will show up in time and doing 5+ tests a day isn't going to change the outcome, its just going to get you stressed! which is not good for early pregnancy anyways!

I really hope you get a BFRP soon (big fat releiable +!!!)

:)

TotorosOcarina · 31/10/2010 14:52

PS... when I was doing the same thing I gave all my tests to DH and told him to hide them and give them me back saturday morning, he did and by the time sat morning came i got a BFP!

skandi1 · 31/10/2010 18:15

I just couldn't help myself just now this evening and did a FR and another superdrug.

In the interest of poas science of course Smile

And bfp Grin line was clear enough even for DH to agree that it was +ive on both of them. Either my wee is more concentrated in the evening or hormone levels have really rocketed thru the day. Bit of both perhaps.

Its very early as I'm only 9dpo so it could all go wrong before af due next weekend.

Very interesting that this month I had positive opks for over a week. The surge started to die down over Thurs/Fri and line on opk had almost disappeared yesterday, just in time for the hpts to turn +ive.
Wonder whether there is something in that?

Rosieposey, hope you're getting on well with your next batch of tests and you've got a bfp too.
x

I'm hoping

rosieposey · 01/11/2010 10:13

Not great news here this morning im afraid, superdrug test came up completely negative and i also dipped a 10 miu IC again and there really is the faintest shadow of a line there - so hcg obviously winding down instead of increasing, will just wait for AF now - thanks for all of your replies though :) Skandi, good luck with the rest of your pg x

OP posts:
skandi1 · 01/11/2010 12:51

Rosieposey, aaah nooo! Sad

I've heard that vit B12 can help with uterus lining? Not exactly sure what it does but maybe worth a try.

Its still very early here too and whilst the line was very obvious and darker this morning, it could all be over by the weekend when af is due.

Bit nervous of that tbh. Am starting to have a few symptoms (boobs much bigger and stretchy feeling in low tummy).

Hope to hear you get your bfp next month!
x
